Summary
“To be shinobi is to endure.”
The only reason Ono Toshiko thought she survived her consciousness waking in her third life was because she had those words ringing in her head.
The thought of having to start all over again every time she died, of being denied the peace of an afterlife, was a horrific one. Forging new bonds and finding new loves in each life only to lose them one after another. Being eternally ground down by life and loss. Forever denied her rest.
Still, she’d been raised a shinobi in her second life - and no one could say she hadn’t been an excellent one.
She would endure.
And perhaps, in this third go-around, maybe hang on until she died of old age.
You know.
For once.
The irony, when she realized where and when she’d been reborn, and as who, did not escape her.

Harry Potter was very lonely. Yes, he had friends, a good job, and just finished his mastery in defense, but it was usually just him and his son all alone at night when everyone else had families and lives apart from them. When he learned by chance that he may actually have some living family, it should have been an easy decision to reach out to them. Unfortunately, nothing comes easily to Harry. Harry's biological father just had to be the most difficult person in the world to get a meeting to see, and the absolutely most suspicious when confronted with a paternity claim.
Tony Stark was very lonely. He and Pepper had recently broken up. His friends had betrayed him, and he was now forced to live with the very same people who had hurt him. He didn't think he could take one more blow and stay standing under it. Tony didn't have family; he didn't know what to do with family; too bad Tony's family wasn't sure what to do with him either, but they were going to give it a hell of a try anyway.

Summary
In an alternate universe where the Atlantis expedition did not go to Athos first and the Wraith are not immediately awakened, Sumner survives to continue to lead the mission. Sheppard has been brought along to serve the science team and is not considered by Sumner to be part of the chain of command, but rather one of Weir's support staff. He is registered as Latent/unknown, but designated as dormant as he hasn't manifested for either Guide or Sentinel despite several traumatic events in his past. Under Weir's guidance the expedition has reached out for alliances and trade but has been hindered in those goals when Sumner's blundering awakens the Wraith early (but not quite as early as in canon). Sheppard was sent out to pilot for an expedition to a site that was supposed to have a ZPM, but while there the team is ambushed. They fled through the gate to what was supposed to be a safe address, wind up in an unexpected place and find themselves captured. Sheppard has an extremely difficult choice to make to protect his team.
