Summary
Astarion never expected to fall in love. He had been hurt too many times in his life to trust anyone enough. That was, until Gale Dekarios made his way into Astarion's life. Astarion thought everything was going perfectly, until an accident in the lab left a piece of a magical artifact lodged in Gale's chest. Now their time together is limited at best. But what Gale doesn't tell Astarion is that he has a way to give them more time - he just needs Astarion to wait patiently for a solution to be found. But is he asking too much of Astarion? Can Astarion stand to wait around for his love to be healed? How can he possibly be expected to live his life without the man he loves?

With Natalie's contract on Jojaway coming to an end, she has some decisions to make about her life. She feels like she needs a change, but she has no idea what change she is looking for. That is, until she finds out that she has been given the deed to her grandpa's farm in Pelican Town. She had always wondered what had become of the farm she had loved so much as a little girl, but she had been banned from her grandpa's funeral so she had always expected it had gone to someone less controversial. This was exactly the change she was looking for, the opportunity to run the farm in a way that would make her grandpa proud and honor the gift he had given her. But Natalie knew that Pelican Town was a small town so she planned to be careful with her heart and not rush into dating when she got settled. She didn't plan to fall for the quiet and nervous town doctor, but those green eyes and sweet smile found just the right way to knock her off her feet.

Following the battle against the Netherbrain, Gale and Astarion retreat to Waterdeep for some well-earned rest and relaxation. As they settle in and begin overcoming their many issues, new ones arise. A certain vampire spawn is a tempting target for local necromancers, who want to sacrifice him as part of a dark ritual.
But Astarion wants to live, and Gale will do anything to ensure he does—even if it means making a tremendously stupid decision that sends his beloved and their friends on a perilous adventure.
