“Puns notwithstanding,” Odile started, “do you have a good reason for your terrible bracelet?”
“Yes.” Siffrin said with a nod. They did not elaborate.

Summary
They just wanted to give a blessing. It was common for storms to grant small blessings to the peach tree man and his younger trainees. Lightning could course through him, he'd make use of their power and it would be done. Simple, painless, perfect.
The static spirit leapt in excitement to help the young one in the tree. They crackled through the stormcloud, gathering speed and strength to give a good blessing. They didn't stop to analyze the situation at all in the yellow haze of energy and giddiness.
...
In which nothing in canon changes, but the Zenitsu we know and love is not the one who climbed that tree to get away from his Gramps.

Inside their eye, the same shape that's on the King's armor sits in the center glowing an ominous shade you've never seen before. To think one missed step would end like this. Siffrin is gone... Only Sadness remains.

Right. Mirabelle will stay here, or maybe go off on a pilgrimage all on her own. Isabeau will go back to Jouvente to pursue his dream. Bonnie back to their sister. And Odile to Ka Bue.
And you…well, you’ll return to traveling, of course. Just like before. That’s fine. It’s what you’ve always done. It won’t be any different than it was before.You’re just glad that this story had a happy ending.
A moment of hesitation and a faint memory leads Siffrin to make a different wish at the Favor Tree. The party of saviors find their final quest goes much more smoothly than they might have anticipated. This is not a good thing.
