The entities wanted to use Earth as their breeding ground. They planed to use it like any other planet in their twisted cycle, but this world had something the others did not. For all other worlds they had been to were dead, the celestial beings which once inhabited them lifeless husks of what they once were. The people of these worlds had no protection against the entities invasion, they were helpless. Earth was not.
For Gaia still lived, and for all that she had weakened she was still a Type. Far beyond anything the entities had ever fought. The battle was over before it had even begun.

Some thought that a trigger event was the traumatic part of getting powers.
In her case, it was the "vision" that followed.
Having lived thousands of years through the eyes of a hundred and more legends from another world, all in mere seconds, chosen through naught but mere happenstance during the death throes of a far distant reality, she found herself the bearer of uncountable beasts and monsters, men and women, abilities and spells, all borne from fantasy, yet far too real to ignore or pretend they did not once exist.
In the aftermath, she starts to realize that no matter how much she tries, a normal life on Earth Bet is impossible, not with what she's become, what she can do. The people she can help.
Inevitably, the walls lengthen, the bars thicken, the shackles tighten.

Simple: Zagreus ends up in Taylors body and tries to do his best.
Zagreus ends up elsewhere and elsewhen in a very weird surface world in a foreign maidens body after entering Chaos's realm. With a caring mother and no clue what to do Zagreus attempts to muddle his way through modern life inside a breaking city doing his best to discover the plan the fates have in store for him to return and do the least amount of damage to Taylor's life. Unfortunately that is not really an option.
