Qui-Gon wanted a new Padawan, did not he? Fine, two could play that game. Obi-Wan wanted a new Master.
One who would make him a Jedi Knight before he turned thirty, preferably.

Summary
He was perfect. He was perfect, and Verso was weak and low and unworthy to even look upon him. To lay his pitiful eyes on Gustave was akin to casting dirt on the statue of David, but for some unfathomable reason, this divine creature had deigned to grace Verso with his attention, his love. Verso couldn’t understand it, but he was determined to properly honor the precious gift he’d been given, devoting himself to Gustave with a Dionysian mania that bordered on delirium.
And oh, how richly rewarded he was.

Summary
Taps is a bugle call used by the Army and the Navy to signal lights out and at funerals. There are no official lyrics for Taps, but many verses have been written for the tune.
Buck has not been having a good time. He's had three near-death experiences in less than a year, his found family has turned out not to need him as much as he needed them, and he's just come from a funeral, and he can't drink away the feelings with everyone else because of the blood thinners. To make matters worse, while picking up some last-minute supplies for the celebration of life, he runs into the 118.
He does not have the mental fortitude to deal with them.
Good thing his partner, Sarah "Buzzkill" Vaughn, has his back.

Summary
Maelle looks at the mirror shards scattered across the floor, a disarray of sharp and jagged pieces that can never be put back together again. "I know you’re not him..." she admits in a shaky whisper. Her tear-filled eyes find Verso, the blues and greys of paint starting to unravel the edges of them, mocking him. "But you deserve to be happy,” she says. We deserve to be happy, she means.
“I deserve to be myself,” Verso says, and it sounds like a plea more than anything else. The skin around his left eye aches, as if it’s waiting for his scar’s return.
Maelle sighs before she sweeps her hand through the air, calling for her rapier. It appears in a flutter of gold petals, glimmering in the dim light of the bathroom. Her eyes are cast in shadow and her disappointed smile is somewhat crooked. "Alright. Let's try again."
or: Maelle wants a happy end for everyone she cares about, and she will keep trying until even Verso gets it right.

“If something is bothering you about me, just say it.”
Verso sighs. If that was that easy. “I doubt anything about you can be bothering,” he says. He doesn’t mean for it to come off as soft as it does.
Gustave’s eyes widen. A frown quickly replaces it. “You’re doing this again.”
“Doing what?”
“Trying to slick-talk your way out of a problem,” Gustave says.-
Verso shouldn’t be jealous. He doesn’t have the right to do that. Just like with any genuine emotion that has ever settled inside of his chest.

Summary
Gustave picks up the stone from the ground, his fingers clutching around it. They are still red, skin quite unused to the harsh frosts and snows of the Northern side of the continent. “Being immortal must really suck, huh?”
Verso laughs. It happens involuntarily, almost on instinct. “You can't even imagine,” he says.

Summary
He remembered the pain that came with it. His death. Perhaps that was why he "woke up" screaming as Expedition 35's boat disappeared in the distance on it's way to the Continent.
One thing was for sure, though. Something had to be done about the Paintress and the Curator. And Gustave would be there to help get those answers.

Summary
In saving Gustave at the cliff, Verso gets more than he bargained for as the dork named Gustave gets teleported with him to the Crimson Forest. But when mysterious happenings on the canvas start tearing the world apart, Verso and Gustave realize that they must work together if they're going to survive. Despite mutually disturbing visions, the two men brave fields of fearsome Nevrons and other oddities to escape.
Meanwhile, a stoic Lune and a sympathetic Sciel deal with a grieving Maelle as they search for Gustave. Even with the addition of Monoco, Lune remains pessimistic. But when the Disaster Expedition stumbles upon something profound, Lune and Sciel follow the spark of exploration to uncover its mysteries.
***
Gustave thought it was the end. ‘For those who come after,’ lingered on his lips, cold fear squeezing his stomach in its icy grip as a blinding flash of white seared his eyesight. But when he wakes up, vibrant, ebullient color leaching into his vision, he’s overcome with a wash of safety. Maybe it’s the fact that the white-haired man is no longer in sight, but Gustave feels buoyant, light. A canopy of brilliant red stretches for what seems like miles above him.

Summary
Verso is rinsing out his spare shirt in the river when he hears crunching footfalls on moss. He continues his idle work, which really was little more than an excuse to let the rattled Expeditioners stew over their situation in peace. The steps pause somewhere behind him.
“Sneaking off already?”
A man’s voice—it has to be Gustave, Maelle’s guardian. Strange to think it’s the first time he hears it.

Summary
“I heard everything," he said softly in response to the outraged exclamation, and dropped his coat beside the chair. “Please close your eyes and relax.”
Verso leaned his head back with pleasure and closed his eyes. Gustave's fingers gently touched his hair, flesh and metal, and he imagined an impossible, beautiful picture of them together, sitting on the beach and holding each other's hands.
Ugh. A grown man well past a hundred and still dreaming of holding hands with a handsome man. Monoco would laugh at him.
“See?” Gustave asked with a chuckle in his voice. “I'm keeping my word and dyeing your hair.”
“You're preparing it,” Verso said and made himself more comfortable in the chair. The collar was starting to chafe his neck, so he undid two more buttons. “Brush my hair first.”
“If you say so.”Series

Summary
Back when Verso still believed himself to be just another face in Lumière’s crowd, he was becoming quite impatient with waiting for his soulmate to appear so they could bring colours into each other’s lives. It wasn’t really that much about the colours themselves, music brought the depth into the world for Verso, but he wanted someone to write the melodies for.
Then, Verso learnt the truth and knew that, in a world where no one was supposed to go through life alone, he was a fake made to exist without anyone to complete his soul.
It’s more than half a century later when fate mocks him again.

Summary
Was it possible that this man was still alive? It shouldn’t be, not after the blows Renoir had dealt and yet, impossibly, the man still clung to a thread of life. Stubbornly as he had fought Renoir, he stubbornly fought death. Pity, mixed with that same discordant respect as earlier, Renoir lifted his cane to deliver a final blow. This too would be a mercy.
Or: Sophie called Gustave the most stubborn person she knew and I decided to take that personally.
A Gustave lives au, where trapped in the manor he must unravel the mystery of the man from the beach and his daughter and find his way back to his friends before it's too late.

Summary
Gustave wasn’t quite sure whether real applied to him and his world anymore - if it ever did to begin with. Not after everything Maelle had told him. The Dessendres, Verso, the canvas, Maelle being a paintress, how him and everyone he’s ever loved were painted (minus Maelle, of course) - it was a lot to process even now, months after Maelle had brought him back. She insisted that this world was just as real as the one she’s actually from, but he still felt as if his entire world view had been shattered and very poorly assembled back together, and that he was simply trying to navigate it without accidentally standing on the sharp edges of the broken pieces.
“Chroma for your thoughts?”
-
Or, Gustave has a hard time trying to process that nothing he knew about his world was right, and Verso comforts him.
