Muscles jump in Balinor’s clenched jaw.
“I knew you wanted him,” he says. “You could never be satisfied with just your own son.”
“I need a loyal dragonlord,” Uther explains to him. “And we both know that it won’t be you.”
“You vile man,” Balinor says. “You used my love. You used my son.”
“And I would do it again. Do we have a deal?”
(Uther, desperately lonely after sending Arthur away to become a knight, manipulates Balinor into giving him Merlin to keep as his pet dragonlord. Balinor, furious at having been tricked a second time, joins a rising resistance to Uther's rule. When Arthur comes home, he falls in love with his father’s strange ward and in doing so unwittingly ignites a war.)

Summary
“Jaybird!” Dick yells as soon as he pulls the double doors open, and Jason can see the trail of little ducklings behind him.
Duke, Steph, Cass, and Tim are in a neat line behind Dick, and they all look miserable. They’re all wearing pajamas, each with their own tissue box. Damian is standing apart from them with his arms crossed, and Alfred The Cat is perched precariously on his shoulder, but the illusion of an upset healthy prepubescent teenager is very obviously ruined by a very red nose, and the pale pallor of his normally deep tan.
Dick is the only one who doesn’t look miserable, and Jason laments his own health and simultaneously curses Dick’s extremely abysmal culinary abilities and prowess.
Jason has no words. He wants to step back, away from the sick children. He wants to go back to his germ-free apartment and watch the newest episode of Great British Bake Off with Roy.
He takes a step back.

Or, wherein Tim got his spleen taken by Ra's like in canon but little does everyone know that Jason had sold his spleen when he was a kid to try and get Catherine into rehab (and she still died of a drug overdose.)

Miku’s never been demure. She’d make the first move herself were it not for the way Tatsu acts when they’re in the same room--the kitchen, the den, or, God forbid, the bathroom, brushing their teeth side-by-side: like a wounded animal, cornered and flighty and ever-flinching. Which Miku supposes makes sense; the wounds she first found on Tatsu have healed, but she understands implicitly the hurt in him goes much deeper. He always has to keep himself busy, must always be touching something, has to wear shades in all weather lest even the weakest winter sunlight gets to be too much for him.
He’s as strong as an ox and equally as heavy--Miku’s shoulders stayed sore for a week after lugging him up to her place all those nights ago--but this is the first time Miku’s ever feared she’d break somebody if she touched them.
