It’s hard to say when it starts. Maybe it’s Luffy deciding to send Coby off with a kiss, or maybe it’s Zoro falling in love with his captain at the same time he’s discovering how sexually compatible he and Nami are, or maybe it’s Nami and Usopp deciding the best way to get over Vivi and Kaya is to date each other, but by the time they hit Sabaody, everyone on the ship except Chopper is tangled up in it somehow, and none of them can bring themselves to regret it.

From the moment Rem Saverem sacrificed herself to safeguard humanity’s hope upon that barren desert planet, Vash the Stampede and Millions Knives were doomed to one day clash, with the winner given leave to grant humanity either salvation or their final judgement.
But agelessness and immortality are not synonyms, and for all the world has waited with bated breath for over a century for the final confrontation between Vash and Knives, they are both mortal creatures.
The thing about death is that it doesn’t matter how strong or smart you are. You only have to get unlucky once.
