“Someone’s in a good mood,” Nino commented when Adrien slid into the seat next to him in the student lounge during the mutual gap they both had between their university classes.
Adrien turned his grin towards his best friend. “Yeah,” he agreed.
Nino grinned back. “I haven’t seen you in this good of a mood in months. Were you hanging with your mystery lady?”
The question caught Adrien completely off guard. Was Nino seriously comparing his feelings for Carapace with his feelings for Ladybug?
Sure, Carapace had become one of his favorite people. Adrien currently coveted every moment spent in Carapace’s company. He walked away from talking to him for hours feeling like he was floating on a cloud. And he was anticipating their next patrol like a giddy child waiting for Christmas morning.
Holy shit!
“You okay, dude?” Nino asked.
He totally had feelings for Carapace. When had that even happened?

Ladybug smiles. “I wanted to drop by and welcome Aspik. I know it must be a little intimidating, being surrounded by so many veteran heroes…so, welcome! We’re glad to have you on board.”
“I look like an egg!” Aspik announces, T-posing.
Chat turns to Rena, feeling like he has been punched in the solar plexus. What the hell? he mouths.
Rena grimaces, her eyes wide with panic. Stomach sinking, Chat remembers one of the first things he learned about the Fox Miraculous: that if Rena Rouge isn’t focused, her illusions go haywire.

Summary
The Hollow Beyond, or the Beyondverse Saga, is my prime series of Alternate Continuity fanfiction, set after the events of Season 1 and ONLY Season 1. Not due to any animosity I have for Season 2 (I love the heck outta that season), but because this series got rolling in 2018, months before Season 2 was even announced. It abides by its own canon and no previously-existing character trait, living situation or plot detail from the Beyondverse canon will be altered to fit true series canon. For example, the Weird Guy's real name is still Chris Gage in Beyondverse canon, and will not at any point be changed to Gustav.
The series consists of three books:
Post Hollow Syndrome (2018)
What Lies Beyond (2018-2022)
Through New Beginnings (2022-????)There are other stories labeled "Beyondverse" in my Works that are not part of this continuity, but are considered "Beyondverse Adjacent" because they use the world and secondary characters of this trilogy. They exist in separate timelines from this prime trilogy.
