Eddie shook his head and turned towards the locker room, “Go ahead, man, I’ll wait.”

“Don’t bother, we’re all going out together it’ll only slow everyone down. Let’s just share. It’s not the first time, right?”

(What Eddie did not see as he pulled the curtain closed, was Hen and Chim’s heads pop out from where they were showering alone and mouth “Not the first time?” with incredulous looks on their faces.)

    OR

5 times Buck and Eddie shared a shower platonically (and one time it wasn’t).

    Summary

The thing was, the 118 was full of gossips.

Eddie had been at the station less than a week before Hen and Chim wrangled details about his “hot young thing” from him (“Buck is only 4 years younger than me, he is not a ‘hot young thing’!” Eddie complained.)

And Bobby was open about his worries for his son’s lack of direction and the secrets he appears to be keeping (“I just wish I could help Evan find the thing that gives him purpose,” Bobby lamented.)

It just made it all the more ridiculous (and horrifying) when Eddie realizes he’s been dating his Captain’s son this whole time (“Defiling his baby,” Chimney cackled, because he clearly wanted Eddie murdered.)
    --
Or, the AU where miscommunication abounds as Eddie seeks advice about his new relationship, Bobby despairs over his adopted son's career prospects and his refusal to talk about it, and Evan Buckley-Nash juggles training at the fire academy, building a family with his new boyfriend, and trying to work out how to tell his overprotective dad that he's already chosen the life he wants, actually.

It takes a goddamn tsunami, of all things, to get the story straight.

She parked near him and got out, avoiding the puddle as she approached him. Hands on her hips, she shook her head in pity. “What on earth happened to you?”

He looked up at her with a pained smile, his shoulders instantly sagging with relief at the sight of her. “I got carjacked.”

    ...

Thanks to a lack of communication, a horrific accident leads the team to fear the worst.

    "I don’t like oranges.”
“Since when?” Eddie frowns. “You used to love oranges.”
Christopher shrugs. “I don’t like them anymore.”
And that’s fine, really. Tastes change. Christopher doesn’t have to like oranges.
It’s just that he does. Christopher loves oranges. Christopher has loved oranges since the first time he tasted one, Eddie watching on over a shaky video call from the desert.

Or, Eddie knows his kid, and his kid loves oranges. Buck knows both of them better than Eddie realized. He shows it in various citrus-based ways.

“Come on, you’re telling me you wouldn’t consider sneaking into a storage closet with me?”

“Obviously, I would!” Eddie was whisper-yelling now, and Buck wasn’t sure exactly what point he was trying to make, but he was enjoying every second of this. “But one of us is going to have to have restraint and it has to be the—the one with the most experience.”

Buck felt his mouth drop open in delight. “Eddie,” he admonished. “Are you calling me a whore?”

“No!” said Eddie, looking increasingly flustered. “I just mean—clearly you have the power to do—” he gestured at Buck, “that, so you have the—the responsibility to, like, use it. Responsibly.”

    “Did you just quote Spiderman?”

Eddie propped his elbows on the table and dropped his head into his hands, groaning dramatically. “I’m going to die. The first date, and I’m going to die.”

    “Been there, wouldn’t recommend it.”
