When Merlin first gets to Camelot and sees the king chop off someone’s head, he thinks that perhaps someone should do something about that. When he gets called by the dragon locked in the king’s basement, he thinks someone should do something about that pretty quickly. When the revenge of the executed man’s mother doesn’t take out two dozen innocent people as collateral damage to the king only because he intervenes, he remembers that he is, in fact, someone and is, according to Gaius, pretty powerful. Summary
In a fit of mild insanity, Arthur decides to ask Merlin to (fake) marry him. Merlin's biggest problem with this isn't the marriage itself (because he finds that quite agreeable), but that he hasn't told Arthur of his magic yet and really, with how they're breathing down each other's backside, it's only a matter of time before Arthur knows. They are entirely normal about all this and nothing odd or strange at all happens.

Summary
Xie Lian has a problem. One that's plagued him his entire time as an immortal. This problem is quite simple: he can't stop ascending.
This problem leads to a second problem: due to his explosive ascensions, he is piled very, very highly with debt. And, as this debt grows higher, the gods are more and more reluctant to let him go before he pays them back. However, the Heavenly Emperor Jun Wu offers him a deal: in exchange for stopping the Crimson Rain Sought Flower's constant rampages in the heavens, Xie Lian will no longer have to worry about whether or not he'll be allowed to jump off a cloud after each of his ascensions.
Xie Lian takes the deal.
