Jotaro likes Morioh a lot. He does.

Relaxing at the beach is out, because he only goes there to switch his brain from Speedwagon mode to PhD mode.
Not that Jotaro would know how to relax even if he had the time. And there’s hardly time to work on his thesis as it is.

Someone comes to Morioh that Jotaro isn't expecting. He doesn't know if it's a good thing or not, to see him again. Ten years after the events of Stardust Crusaders, Jotaro and Noriaki are two very different people. Learning to work together again may prove to be too difficult a task.

Jotaro doesn’t much care, though. The cold helps. He wouldn’t be able to say what it helps if asked, but he knows it helps.
He tosses his finished cigarette butt over the railing, down to the parking lot below. There’s a trash can a few feet from him, closer to the door to get up here, but he doesn’t feel like moving. Maybe he just can’t.
A sharp stitch of pain races up the nerves in his injured arm, and he grits his teeth against it. He should probably put his shoulder brace back on. His numb fingers feel clumsy and fat when he fishes out another cigarette and tries to light it. Each time the flame of his lighter catches, it sputters out under the wind’s harsh breath, once, twice, thrice, four times, fucking— His teeth clench again, irritably, right through the filter, filling his mouth with a terrible, bitter taste, markedly lacking the bite of nicotine he’s been seeking out for the god-knows-how-many hours he’s been up here. He gags and spits the wasted cigarette out, where it tumbles sadly to the concrete at his feet.

Jotaro stands at the edge of something. When his battle is over, he needs to figure out who he's still fighting.

Summary
Noriaki wakes from a long and thoughtless dark feeling like he’s been buried in hot sand and left to die. He hears a series of soft mechanical noises that rattle his aching head, as well as a deep rumbling noise, something familiar and impossible to place.
His body—god, his body hurts. Aches and trembles and feels so very weak so as to steal the breath from him. There is a bizarre feeling in his chest, his abdomen, something almost cold running through the length of him. He can only liken the feeling to drinking ice cold water and feeling it run its course through himself.

Noriaki wakes up in a different world, one without Dio, one he didn't expect to make it to, and he desperately wants to understand how he fits into it.

“Hey, Nori.” His voice is low and quiet, and he knows it’s stupid to hope for it, but he still holds his breath and waits for a reaction. Just, anything. A twitch of fingers or change in breathing or tilt of the head or fucking something he knows he’s not going to get. “Your parents are here,” he continues, well and truly unsure of what to say or do, not that it’s a change from how he is normally. He thinks Noriaki would probably think it’s very funny, watching him sit at his bedside talking to what is effectively a corpse.
Don’t be morbid, Jotaro mentally kicks himself, which Nori would also undoubtedly laugh at him for.

Jotaro blinks and Noriaki plucks the knotted stem from his tongue, dropping it on the table between them. Polnareff laughs and claps Noriaki on the back.
"Ahh! C'est magnifique! You know what they say about people who can tie knots in cherry stems with their tongues, yes?" Polnareff slings an arm around Noriaki’s shoulders, jostling him as he grins. Noriaki couldn't have asked for this to play out better. Polnareff, the lovable oaf, was turning out to be quite the wingman. Noriaki makes steady eye contact with Jotaro, with his lips curled in a smirk and one brow raised.

“No! This oaf couldn’t last a round with me even if he wanted to.”
Not in front of the children, Shadow, Kojiro had been about to say, but the words die in his throat. Instead he turns to Kaoru slowly, fuming.
“Excuse me? What’s that supposed to mean, cinnamon stick?”
“It means you couldn’t handle me in bed,” Kaoru answers. He looks down his sharp slash of a nose at Kojiro, somehow, despite Kojiro’s height advantage.
“Well, maybe you couldn’t handle me!” Kojiro snaps.
“Doubtful,” Kaoru scoffs. He’s close now, close enough for Kojiro to see the angry line between his eyebrows, the irritated curl of his upper lip.
“Prove it!” Kojiro yells, stepping closer.
“Maybe I will.”
