Summary
'Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire, I hold with those that favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate to say that ice is also great and would suffice.' A thee part series of 'Twin Peaks' stories about the evolution of the relationship between Dale Cooper and Albert Rosenfield. The first is gen, the next is largely gen with hints at slash and the final part is a small slash coda.

Summary
Cooper’s been shot, and Albert still doesn’t know where they stand with each other. Which is symptomatic of who they are. You could fill a book with everything left unsaid between them; not that Albert’s planning on writing it, but he’s got a fair idea of how he wants it to end. Maybe not with sunshine and roses - some people aren't meant for happy endings, and he’s pretty sure that includes him - but with honesty and hearts laid bare. Tonight isn’t quite that, but it’s a start.

“But why have the FBI returned to your telenovela of a town?”
Albert paused, clearly in the thick of several mental calculations. Outside the wind howled its way through the powerlines, through the pines. It would snow, tonight maybe. Maybe in the wee hours when Harry would wake, inexplicably, full of unclaimed longing.
“But the universe is making noises,” concluded Albert. He shifted against the desk uneasily before adding, “and when the universe speaks, we listen. Or so an old friend once said.”
