“You’re like a kitten,” Josh tells him, as he settles beside his figure. “You gonna meow for me?”
“Hm?” Tyler seems wholly too invested in the task at hand to reply. He rolls onto his front, promptly tucking himself into a loaf-of-bread formation—knees against his tummy, arms curled into his chest. “Wha’s ‘at?”
“You’re a kitten,” Josh repeats. “Little loaf.”

“Distraction,” Josh begs, solicits. It is brimming with desperation. He melts against his partner’s frame, falling victim to the enforcing compression of his hold, “more touch, Tyler – Tyler, please.”

At a time where everyone is hitting rock bottom, it seems like maybe this could be a good thing — to everyone but Josh, that is, who feels that in no way does the new guy make up for the loss he’s suffered.
