“And the grump when you thought I read your arrest report? You told me TK didn’t stand for anything.”
“It doesn’t,” TK says. He sighs and closes his eyes. “But it used to. It used to be my initials, but now it’s my name.”
“Ah,” Carlos says, “And legally your name is still—”
“A girls’ name,” TK says tightly.
“Right,” Carlos says, his annoyingly neutral expression finally softening. “Which explains why wouldn’t want me to see it. But you do prefer to go by TK? That’s the name you chose for yourself?”
“What—What?” As much as he tries not to, TK shrinks into himself.
Carlos puts his burger down. “You thought I didn’t know,” he says. “TK—”
“How do you know? I’ve been agonising over how to tell you for weeks.”
Carlos tilts his head with a soft, curious smile playing at his lips. “We might have had a few layers of clothes between us but we’ve been all kinds of on top of each other lately,” he says.TK comes out as trans before he and Owen make the move to Austin, and TK still gets his supportive-as-all-hell fire family and hot-as-all-hell boyfriend. Featuring an abundance of comfort, cuddles, communication!! and so, so much love.
