Summary
At the end of the day, those two were your companions and it was best to put your trust in them. You just hope that they don't do anything stupid without you knowing. At least with you there, there would be an adult to make sound decisions. You chuckle to yourself, wondering when during your life you of all people decided to become the responsible one.
To be honest, you always felt odd about considering the younger Express members as peers. Because yes, you seem roughly the same age, with your youthful looks and durable limbs, always eager to seek out the next challenge. But if anyone looked into your eyes, really looked into your soul, they could see that time has ravaged you in ways no mortal should have gone through. Fifty thousand years is a long life to live for anyone, let alone a human. Yet you spent that time in isolation, your only company being the monster you swore you'd never become.
(You had only two reasons to endure. Your love for humanity and your love for him. The world survived, no thanks to you. He wasn't as lucky.)

Summary
David pressed his palms on the floor, attempting to get up. This time, he was able to lift himself onto his knees, ignoring the aches that seemed to be everywhere. After a deep breath, he straightened his back, leaning onto the wall behind him. As he shifted to sit in a more comfortable position, his eyes began to clear up. He was able to see properly again. He saw what—who was in front of him and sat there, body trembling at the sight of the man in front of him.
“So tell me, Alpha, how long do you think it will take for my little wolf to show up?”
He may not remember how he got here. What he did know is that the vampire Darlin' has been hunting for the last two years was in front of him.
Quinn sat on a chair, legs crossed and hands placed in his lap. He cocked his eyebrow. “Well, I’m waiting for my answer,” he said impatiently. Quinn wanted an answer now.

Summary
Daddy always said that he was a dirty sinner at heart, his soul was stained from birth. It made sense that his physical body would match his sinning core. Alexis was just God's punishment for the monster that he was. Maybe if he spent more time on his hands and knees, he would have escaped his fate.
(That didn't explain them though. There was no way that He would send them his way. If Alexis was his punishment, then they were his salvation. Yet the only reason he could conceive as to why they came into his life was to punish him harder, teach him a lesson he's spent his life internalizing. He'd only pray that they won't get caught up in his hellish flames.)

David gave up on balancing his accounts and analyzing supply and demand graphs in favour of staring at their pretty face while they look over some policies for an essay. Their eyes rapidly firing between their computer and notebook, scrambling to write down the notes they needed for an essay. It was nice to see them relaxed like this. Writing always brought a sense of peace to them. Watching them be able to translate the beautiful and complex ideas in their brain into words that only they could conceive.
Even after all these years, there still wasn’t a detail that went unnoticed by him.
“You got a new piercing?” His eyes stared at the silver piece on their nose. They’d talk about getting a nose piercing for a while now, and now that they’ve gotten it, it fits their face really well.

He doubles, and triples and quadruple checks himself in the mirror. Ok, so far so good. He doesn’t look like he just rolled out of bed which is a general improvement from his status quo. It wasn’t like simple improvements were good enough for her. Although, if she asked him out while looking like a drowned rat, then maybe she didn’t care for his looks.
(Or at least he thinks that's what she said. To be quite frank, he hasn’t even heard this girl speak. She could definitely understand him, so it wasn’t a language barrier on her end, she just refuses to open her mouth. So far, they have only been able to communicate with nods and what he thinks was sign language. It looked more like flailing hands to him, but it got the job done. Now all he needs to do is not get stood up by the most ethereal woman he’s ever laid his eyes on.)

“My name isn’t short for Samuel, Darlin’, it’s just Sam. And why yes, I am calling you a liar, you menace. I refuse to believe with all the junk food you eat, your teeth aren’t rotting like a corpse. If I was your dentist, I’d charge you extra for every sweet treat you eat.”
Darlin’ gave a giggle that Sam swears were the sounds from the harps in heaven. “Well, maybe it’s more fun to say ‘Samuel Collins’ instead of just ‘Sam Collins’,” replied cheekily, with a smirk to match. “But, I promise that the dentist has never said anything about my teeth. Now can you pretty please make me pancakes.”
Sam rolled his eyes at Darlin’ pout. Who knew with the reputation Darlin’ held, that they can be so… adorable. He much prefers the puppy dog look they have over their usual wolf glare.
He went off to the kitchen to make Darlin’s beloved pancakes, with Darlin’ trailing close behind him. Once Sam started to gather the ingredients onto the counter, they hugged him from behind and started to gently kiss his shoulders and neck.
