Kim Dokja was comfortable with his boring yet peaceful and quiet night-time shift at his local Convenience store, the same old routine every day, every week. This was his norm ever since he graduated University and how he plans to pay off his Student Loans, whilst also living on instant noodles and cheap food and snacks if any outside of the instant noodles. One day he decides to check out the new shops in a nearby location, which ends up looking like the perfect place for him to get murdered at so he decides its best to not go back there, but out of pure curiosity gives the bar just by that area a shot to see if their drinks are any good, just this once. And he vows to never come back again after this. Until one of the bartenders come to him instead. Wu Suowei wakes up at 7AM everyday, leaves the house at 8, and arrives at work by 9. He works and works until 5PM, leaves, and crawls back home at 7PM. Yes, two hours. Because its fucking traffic in this motherfucking city. Sometimes, he gets home at 9PM because his boss decided overtime was a good idea. Then he eats dinner, gets changed, sleeps. Wake up. Repeat.
Life could be monotonous. Boring. Especially for an adult like Wu Suowei, who works endlessly from dawn to dusk. But life sure knows how to surprise you when it wants to.
One summer, after getting fired from the workshop, a construction worker from across the road starts appearing in Wu Suowei’s life more often, making his life a little convenient, a little bit easier.

“Uh, thanks?” the customer replies hesitantly.
“Did you see that, Sangwonie,” Leo says, shouting over to where Sangwon is, a few aisles away, minding his business and stocking shelves.
Sangwon doesn’t notice, but Anxin does.
“Pfft, thirty-two seconds? Amateur hour! Watch this!”

Around the center of town, just across from the post office/“fire department”, to the right of the church and left of the bar, there is a shitty grocery store...
And while this store has always had its fair share of otherworldly happenings, things have been starting to ramp up. The turnaround time on the part-timers has never been quicker, the religious fervor that the mangers have for the founders has been getting more intense, the hole forming out back just beyond the loading dock, costumers are treating the employees with respect.
But none of these really phases Jack, after all, he is not getting paid enough to deal with this shit.

Alex looks up at the wall of cheese in front of him, wide-eyed and overwhelmed.
“Excuse me,” a polite voice next to him says, all posh and fancy. The owner of that voice could probably tell the difference between brie and camembert without needing to read the label. “You're in front of the Manchego.”
Alex glances to his left, to match a face to the accent. It's a very nice accent, and an even nicer face, framed by dark blonde hair that swoops perfectly over his left brow.
Hot Cheese Guy has obviously come straight from work, some kind of office job judging by his tie and button-up, but he’s shed a layer of uptight rigidity somewhere along his commute. The top button is undone, the tie knot loosened around his Adam's apple, and his cufflinks removed so he could roll his sleeves. He looks professional, but relaxed, and Alex is fucking into it.
He sneaks a look at the contents of Hot Cheese Guy’s basket. He's got chorizo wrapped in paper from the in-store deli, cage-free eggs, this rustic olive-riddled sourdough that looks delicious, and what appears to be artisan dog food, full of vegetables and bone broth.
