Stanley Pines can't die. He's been thrown off a cliff, boiled alive in a car trunk, bled to death from dodgy back alley surgeries, all sorts of shit. He's almost exhausted the list. He's not sure what caused it, but hey, who's he to look a gift horse in the mouth?
Then the apocalypse happens, and Stan starts to suspect that his new powers may have to do with a certain six fingered henchmaniac with a penchant for destruction.

Stanford Pines had once believed Bill Cipher to be the center of his world, that he - above anything else - would always do right and service his muse by whatever way the being required.
That changed thirty years ago, when his assistant saw a glimpse of what the portal could mean for their world. He shut it down, tried to take it all back, but it wasn't enough. Stanford Filbrick Pines had to pay for his sins - at least, Bill Cipher thought so.
He wasn't trying to end the world, but Bill had the kids in his clutches, he was going to kill them.

The blue flames engulfed both of their hands. Just as it was painless many years ago, the fire didn’t hurt here either. Ford even caught himself relaxing for an instant at the familiar warmth that used to fill him with joy. Although blue used to depict the highest temperature fire could have, Bill’s blazes felt like letting your skin bathe in the sun’s light in the month of July. A solar warmth, almost… divine. He felt a familiar thrill of electricity coursing through his veins. The deal was sealed.
