Avatar Kyoshi, 228, gets informed the Air Nomads have withdrawn their support of her in protest for her choice of conduct (killing one too many sons of rebel warlords is bad).In the Earth Kingdom, this is an act of rebellion.
Avatar Kyoshi handles the problem like she would any other rebellion.
Some of her best Dai Li agents come along.
As does Lao Tieguai, the Immortal, the Spirit of Death.On her path of rebellion-quashing, she communes with Spirits, drills her Dai Li, and commands the heavens themselves.
(She and Lao Ge created the Dai Li. They don't often get the chance to crush a rebellion made of airheaded pacifists).Cao Mengde and Zhuge Kongming would be proud of her tactics and strategies.

For all intents and purposes, Izuku Midoriya is just a normal kid. He has two loving parents, he has what appears to be a simple earth controlling quirk, and he got an All-Might merch collection that would cause even Sir Nighteye to be impressed. And people might buy it, if not for the fact that Izuku tends to disappear off somewhere for hours on end, his quirk acts in the most bizarre ways sometimes, and let us not forget the giant Badger monster he keeps for a pet.

The dragons were the lucky ones. Their humans remembered them, remembered where they'd come from. They were respected, treated as the wise elders they were. (At least, until Sozin tried to destroy them.)
In contrast, the badgermoles and sky bison were considered naught but simple beasts-- admired, yes, but thought of as dumb and unintelligent. No one came to them looking for wisdom. (And then Sozin continued his sacriledge. Did the man's treachery know no bounds?)
But at least they were known. Legends persist, telling how the great benders of old learnt at the paws of the masters.The seals, however, have been forgotten. Only the oldest of old legends remain to suggest that waterbending was learnt from any but the Moon herself.
Perhaps it's because, unlike the others, the seals did not speak.Series

This is an Avatar: the Last Airbender continuation fan fiction where avatar: the legend of korra does not exist because I don't want it to. This is a work in progress so the storyline might change overtime.
After the death of Avatar Aang, rebellion has sparked all throughout the four nations seizing control and dethroning the previous avatar's friends turned world leaders. Successful with their coup, the rebellion group has sought every last waterbender child in hopes to control the avatar cycle.
Avatar Heyijun, the new avatar born in the outskirts of the southern tribe, has been forced to live on the run in the wilderness. As she traversed through the avatar path laid upon her and with no other person to teach her mastery over the four elements, she has to teach herself in order to survive and fulfill her duty as the next avatar.

They failed, over and over and over again. As if they were merely copying the immortal cycle they were stuck in with each other and not trying, and trying, and trying to fulfill their duty to the world. They failed.

At nine, she gets four rounds in before being disqualified. She grumbles and groans about it, heads out to the mountains and practices, practices, practices. She’s going to win this. She’s going to show her parents, show everyone, that she’s not incapable, not helpless, not fragile.
The earth sings. Toph moves with it. Practices with badger moles and with random challengers. Falls and skins her knees and gets back up, feels the dirt and the sweat, feels the validation of being treated like an equal, of having people fighting her with their all. It hums inside of her and grows and grows and grows, and it makes her feel powerful.
If her parents ever realize she’s missing, they don’t ask.
