At Bag End, there is a map in the foyer. Unlike the travel maps stashed away in the library, it is not wrinkled. It is carefully preserved in a frame and hung opposite the door. It spans half the wall, and Sting hangs long and leaflike beside it.In red, the map traces all of Bilbo’s favorite walks, and each is a treasure he gave Frodo.

Después de tantos años teniendo una vida normal (o al menos normal para un hobbit respetable), un viejo hobbit y un viejo enano se vieron envueltos en una misión nueva: cuidar al joven sobrino de Bilbo al que habían (si, los dos) adoptado.
No era una misión difícil en realidad, pues era un niño bastante bien portado, pero por supuesto que seguramente eso les traería momentos un tanto interesantes, fuera de lo que habían vivido esos últimos años de retiro. -

Summary
Being alone is a truly exhausting experience. More so when one is surrounded by others making sure that they are quite pointedly aware that they are alone. Bilbo Baggins has been rather terribly alone amidst this dreadful company for several months by his reckoning. By this time, his mother’s blackberry bushes should be heavy with fruit and his prize winning tomatoes should be fat and ruby red on the plant; the thought only adds to his sour mood. Gandalf is as helpful as he has ever been, a familiar face in the crowd but not much more and his quizzical nonanswers grow irritating swiftly.

The journey to the Lonely Mountain told in moments of character growth and the weird broken relationship of a dwarf and his burglar. (However many times Thorin confronted Bilbo over a perceived slight to his company and the slow realization that Hobbits are just different). -

Summary
Following the Battle of Five Armies, Bilbo could not stay in Erebor. It was too dark, too quiet, to somber.
Especially without the presence of one particular Dwarf.
So Bilbo goes back home to the Shire, to his fire and his armchair and his books, and ignores the ravens that perch on his fence and the sideways looks his neighbors give him.
