Summary
After many ups and downs in the Batfamily since Alfred's death, the bats decided they needed to go to family therapy to work out their differences.
Now that the cracks have finally begun to heal, a new villain appears and ruins their plans for a nice evening, causing them to die.
But apparently, death loves, or rather hates, the Waynes, so they wake up in another world where Batman and his entourage of Robins never existed. Now, with Gotham without heroes and lost in despair, the heroes who should have existed from the beginning will reemerge.

Almost like Duke has skipped over the last three months because there are certain things that are supposed to happen every summer.
He's supposed to go to the beach with his parents. They're supposed to see fireworks and buy sparklers and find seashells. He's supposed to stay up late and sit on the front porch eating popsicles while his mother plays the guitar and his father draws. Then as Duke’s tucked into bed, he’s supposed to be asked, "How many stars?"
On a great day he’s supposed to say nine or ten. But if it was amazing, the best day he ever had, he's supposed to cheat and say something like ten thousand stars.
But they didn’t get to see fireworks or eat popsicles or do any summer things, and Duke has this ache inside, like he's slept through Christmas.

Managing a pack without a Pack Omega is difficult, especially when most of the members are Alphas or Omegas who are not prepared to take on that role. He feels more guilty for not having approached Gotham for a single day with his daughter than he does about not receiving visits. With all the gifts that Bruce sends every so often, it's enough, in his opinion.
