Steve was sunshine.
It radiated out of him, clung to his hair wherever he went, caressed his skin, lit up his eyes from the inside.
He wasn't the punishing heat of California, the midday sun that scorched everything it touched.
He was the sort of sun that haloed Saints in stained glass windows, that drifted across long grass in late autumn afternoons, he was the dawn that brought new life and the dusk that settled little children to sleep.
And for the first time since Billy was small enough to fit on his mother's lap, the storm was calming.
Not all the way - the depths were deep, and shadows lurked beyond the surface, nipping at his heels and dragging him under. But the anger did not consume him. The rage did not blind his eyes with blood.

At first Billy had hated the stupid kids show, with its bright pastel palette and mind-numbing repetitive songs—how everyone is just so goddamn cheery all the time! But the more episodes he’s been forced to consume, the more get gets used to it. Hell, he’s even started looking forward to it.
The fact that the host, Mr. H, looks like sex on legs makes the whole thing a little more palatable. Billy could watch that dude file taxes and he’d still be entertained. But you can’t blame Billy—dude’s a total knock-out.
“I wish Mr. H was my daddy,” Max says wistfully from across the couch.
And shit, that makes two of ‘em.
Or, Billy’s living life as, essentially, a single dad to a six-year-old Max who’s obsessed with Mr. Roger’s style kids show that Steve is the host of.
So when the famous Mr. H comes to town for a Meet & Greet, Billy’s gotta take Maxine, right? For her sake. The fact that Billy’s got a total hard on for the guy’s got nothing to do with it. -

It is an intermezzo story depicting the immediate aftermath of the events at the end of the 'finest Steel' and the following weeks before the series's main sequel takes place. COMPLETE.

Summary

Or, in one of the infinite possible alternative versions of the same world, everyone's story looks a little different as a result of several characters' paths colliding in a small but strange town like Hawkins.
Or, Steve Harrington discovers he's not, in fact, bullshit. Nancy Wheeler decides what kind of woman she'd like to be. Jonathan Byers realizes he's more than the sum of his responsibilities as an elder sibling. Jim Hopper gets more out of the parenthood experience than he'd ever expected and Joyce finds peace within chaos. The Party learns the passage into adulthood may be more troublesome than end-of-world-level threats. Billy Hargrove crosses paths with a harbinger ready to judge him for his sins, and in the process, he must face his abyss before there's any hope for his redemption. Elizabeth Stirling learns that a soldier needs to look back to remember what they're moving forward for.
And they'll all understand that there's always a bigger threat to worry about.

“Do my eyes?” Billy mutters around his cigarette, “What the fuck does that even mean?”
“With make-up.” Chrissy clarifies easily.
And with that, Billy nearly sucks back the cigarette dangling between his lips. He coughs, and coughs, and then coughs some more. Has to fucking lean forward to catch his breath, feeling a lot like he did when he first tried that stolen cigarette from his dad at the tender age of twelve. He uses the back of his hand to wipe away the stray tears that had eked their way out during his fit. “No. Absolutely not. No fucking way.”
Eddie perks up, “Ooh. The gentleman doth protest too much, methinks.”
“What the fuck’d you just call me?” Billy croaks, his voice still a little ragged from his coughing.
Or, Chrissy convinces Billy to let her put makeup on him. 💋

Steve is his. He belongs to Billy—he’d always belonged to Billy, they both just didn’t know it before tonight.
“Mine.” Billy growls stiffly, always finding it especially difficult to speak around his fangs, along with his moon-drunk state.
Steve answers him with a whimper. It seems he too is beyond words, rendered mute.
He’s hurt. Billy had hurt him. So now Billy has to fix him. That’s what a good mate did.
I’ll fix it. Billy vows, unable to form the words now. Too far gone. Regardless, he tries to push the sentiment through his and Steve’s bond that hasn’t snapped in place yet. He nuzzles a nose into the shell of his future mates ear. I’ll make it better.
Or, what if everything that happened in season 2 was the same except Billy was a werewolf.

“Scorpions. Heard-a them?”
Steve fumbled to place the headphones over his ears to give the band a listen. Billy restarted the tape in his lap. He watched the damn hair on the boy’s hair flop as he head-banged with his eyebrows crunched. “Mm. No, I don’t…no.” They traded the headphones back and sat in silence for a couple of seconds.
“Well, you should listen to ‘em more. Good stuff.”
That was the gist of the conversation the rest of the night; Steve didn’t have anywhere to drive the brats, apparently, and Billy just didn’t want to go home. Too much shit waiting there.
Steve leaned against the back of the booth and watched the sun set. An orange array of colors filtered over his side profile whilst he continued tapping the beat to Pac-Man Fever. His eyes were dazed, like he wanted to be elsewhere.
Billy understood the feeling. But he was going to be stuck in Hawkins for another two years.
But, he could handle being at Viola’s with the Fallen King of Hawkins High, or better yet–the prettiest damn boy in town for a spare hour or two.

Before coming to Hawkins Billy dreamed, since puberty, of different lives across different timelines and universes where he and Steve were always together.
He always thought it was just his repressed gay feelings coming out in stories of what his ideal guy would be like then he see Steve in Hawkins for the first time and he envisions seven of their past lives together all at once and is sure they are meant for each other.
Too bad Steve doesn't seem to know him at all.
