The journalist’s mouth opens in protest, but Cordelia cuts in quicker, “In both stories the ship sinks, my family dies, and I suffer. I will tell my story as I wish it to be told; no more nor less. Will you accept the truth that I am willing to give you?”
A stiff nod is the concession she gets. The journalist’s muscles are infinitesimally tense, and her teeth grind slightly against each other. Cordelia fights her innate urge to pacify, swallowing words formed to appease. She must stand her ground, before it cracks underneath her.
“Begin whenever you are ready,” the journalist says, smile dull and placatory. A twinkle in her eye betrays her interest.

Ok I’m setting about writing possible the cringiest thing I am capable of. The story is a continuation of King Lear – you know, possibly Shakespeare’s best work – and I’m gonna be tainting it with Wattpad clichés and happy ever afters. And why? Why am I doing this to poor Shakespeare? Two reasons: 1.) to prove to my friends that, yes, I am brave enough to write Edgar fan fiction and that 2.) you will enjoy it, because Edgar is a mad lad. So, without, further ado, I present to you: Angels and Edgar.
Edgar is like, sad after the events of King Lear (cause who wouldn't be that shit traumatising), but perhaps the friend he's always had and always kept a little distance might make him, well, un-sad.
I can't lie I really enjoyed writing this. Doubt anyone will read this bc who reads Shakespeare fanfic (no offence to any of you lovely people) but if you do, have fun! Convert to being in love with Edgar. Woo.
