Lila had definitely chosen the worst day to spread a lie about her relationship with Adrien. After all, when proof to debunk the said lie is right in front of your eyes, it is hard to believe it.
“I’m not dating Lila, I don’t know what she’s told you, but she’s lying-” Adrien tried to come clean to his classmates, but it seemed as if it didn’t matter to them, instead…
“Lila doesn’t lie!” Kim intervened. Did he have to?
“I can’t believe you, after everything you said to me yesterday.” Lila said in a (fake) broken voice, wiping her (fake) tears.
“Yesterday?”
“Yes! During dinner with your father!”
“What dinner?” Adrien sighed, incredulous.
“Don’t play dumb! Are you lying just to break up with me? I thought you were sincere!”
And here she goes, crying again. The quartet all shared a look of “being utterly done with life right now”. Was there any point in trying to make the truth come out?
But Adrien didn’t want to be known as a cheater. And he didn’t want Nino to look like some kind of home wrecker. So, he made up his mind to show this little liar a piece of his way of thinking.

Summary
Ladybug had been in the middle of a battle the moment her parents had been murdered and it had been the beginning of the end, in apparently more ways than one.
With her and Adrien laid up in the hospital after trying [failing] to save her mama and papa they are unable to take up the mantel of being Paris' heroes for a time, being in a coma would do that to you. Meaning that the akuma's born from those worried about them get to run wild and free long enough for the Justice League to FINALLY pull their heads out of their asses and see that 'oh, those kids playing dress up that called begging for help weren't lying'.
It was years too late in Paris' books but whatever, they're sick of climbing over rubble to get to work so may as well let them keep the akuma's busy while they cleaned up and waited for the real heroes to come back.
When Marinette and Adrien wake up they meet Red Hood and are more than willing to take the poor bird under their wing, as those who have died more days of the week than lived through them they feel like they can help him come to terms with his death and resurrection.
So, of course, they end up falling in love with the man. Thank the Kwami that he felt the same.
