Gabriella Ro'Meave journeys with her brother, Zane, to a strange village named Phoenix Drop in hopes of finding her long-lost twin Garroth. Once she arrives, it doesn't take long before she gets swept up in the adventures of Lord Aphmau and the rest of the crew. Recovering from her trauma from living in O'khasis with her broken family, she tries to make do with her new life and the new people she's now surrounded by.
(My attempt at rewriting one of my favorite series and trying to fix its many, many flaws. Right now, this story is gonna follow canon pretty closely. I'm trying to keep most story beats the same and even keeping a lot of the dialogue that appears in the og episodes. But I'm taking a lot of artistic liberties, so it's gonna start drifting away eventually. This first installment is just the second half of season one, but I will publish season two eventually, and I even have plans to extend the story far past that. More information in my chapter one AN)

Aphmau giggles. “Thank you!” She leans up against Garroth again, this time leaning into her chest. Garroth holds back the urge to shriek. She wishes she wasn’t wearing this armour. To bask in Lord Aphmau’s warmth is to feel the harsh bite of the sun on bare flesh. “You’re made to be you, Garroth. Doesn’t matter to me if you’re different. We’re all a little weird, you know. Have you looked at Donna, or Brandan?”
“I don’t think I’m a man,” Garroth blurts, and her heart drops into her stomach when the words leave her.

This piques Malachi’s curiosity. “What’s here?”
“Calendulas and peonies.” Zoey lifts herself from the grass. There’s a look in her eyes Malachi can only describe as hopeful. Malachi doesn’t see that very often in Zoey, it was a nice change. “Zane.”
“An O’Khasis prince?” Malachi mutters, raising an eyebrow and placing a finger on his chin. “He was here?”
“I can’t be sure, but an amulet…” Zoey tries to keep the shock off her face, but it’s obvious. “They couldn’t have.”
Malachi knows he shouldn’t be afraid— it’s what the Phoenix Drop Village guards taught him. But he can’t help it. “Zoey, you’re scaring me.”
“He— If Zane wanted the power of Irene, and the only way to get there was to teleport to the Irene dimension— but it’s only a myth. We don’t know if it’s real.”
That can’t be. “Are you saying Mama’s trapped in a completely different dimension?”
Zoey looks over her shoulder and back at Malachi. She frowns. “It’s possible.”

The small village seemed to be in a healing phase, recovering from something Zoey had seen and experienced before. It wasn’t the first time she had seen the Shadow Lord’s influence but it was the first she had seen a village overcome it. After exploring the village, she settled into a stall in the plaza and waited for the woman to catch Zoey’s attention once again. What it was about her, the blonde wouldn’t have been able to tell you at the time. Maybe she would guide her to that something to make the name Taltatheil easier for the elf to bear.
