Lawrence looked up as Hoffman deposited something on his desk with a dull, heavy thud. The detective wasn’t meeting his gaze, simply keeping a hand atop the item that had been placed on display between them, shuffling hesitantly on his heels in a way that Lawrence had come to understand meant that he was about to ask for something he wasn't sure the doctor would like.
“I am not putting that on,” Lawrence stated immediately, not wanting the detective to get any ideas.
“I don’t want you to wear it,” Hoffman muttered, fingers curling around the headband of the Reverse Bear Trap, kneading at it as he tried to summon the courage to finish saying whatever it was that he had in mind. “I… I want you to make me wear it.”

Summary
