In a moment of silence the sound of a stomach growling fills the air, Steve puts an hand on his stomach but it wasn’t him.
"You hungry?" Steve finally asks Eddie, looking at him in the eye for the first time during the night, but Eddie turns toward him, confused.
"I thought it was you!" He replies, frowning.
They keep quiet for a moment, wondering if someone is in the storehouse with them, but when they don’t hear any other sound they get back to their work until they hear another gurgle followed by a soft whimper.
“Did you hear that?” Steve asks, looking around, hitching for the bat he always has in his trunk.
“I did.” Eddie replies, the same scared look on his face while he looks around the pile of boxes.
“Maybe it’s a dog.” Steve suggests, looking for something to defend himself.
“It didn’t sound like a dog.” Eddie replies, looking warily around them.
“A baby? What does a fucking kid do here?!” Eddie yells and the child startles, starting to cry out loud.Series

“Steve. Are you taking your meds?” Robin asks softly.
Turning toward the kitchen he looks at his counter where way too many bottles of medicines are standing. One pill in the morning, two after lunch, one in the afternoon, and a few drops to help him sleep every night and not be awake from nightmares.
Yes. He’s taking the stupid pills, but he’s still sure of what he saw, if his best friend doesn’t believe him, none else will, so there’s no point in arguing.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m taking the stupid meds and I was probably wrong. I’m looking out of the window but I can’t see him anymore.”
“Maybe he was someone who looked like him,” she suggests and Steve quickly agrees that it must have been so.
But there’s a thing he didn’t tell Robin.
The mysterious man who looked exactly like Eddie was holding a big dark umbrella, even if it wasn’t raining. That’s what attracted Steve’s attention. The huge umbrella covered the man’s body while nobody else was holding one.
It means nothing, Steve knows it, but he can’t stop thinking about it.Series

Steve was the only other person at the trailer when Chrissy’s Cunningham body snapped into pieces like nothing. He knew about monsters, and creatures from other dimensions, and now that the big boys have invaded Hawkins, he’s Eddie’s only companion. Steve’s the one who can drive, go grocery shopping, book a stupid motel room, all of this while Eddie hides in the trunk or in the back seat covered by bags and moldy blankets. Because nobody suspects that Steve Harrington, Hawkins's golden boy, is friends with the suspected serial killer Eddie Munson.Series

Steve.
Dear, kind, smiling, Steve, who’s always there, reading to him some articles from the Rolling Stones and telling him what’s going on out there.
“Do I look ok?” Eddie hisses, his eyes bloodshot from the lack of sleep.
“Do you need another pillow? I can ask Mary if-”
“I don’t need a fucking pillow! Harrington! I need my fucking meds!” Eddie yells, and the machine at his side starts to beat out loudly while Eddie grits his teeth, forcing himself to stay still and ride out the pain, counting in his mind.
One. Two. Three.
When finally his jaw relaxes, Steve’s still there, looking at him with fondness, “How far?”
“Huh?”
“How far did you get?”
“Seventy-four.”
“That’s great. A few days ago it was more than ninety.”
Eddie rolls his eyes, the only part of his body he can move without experiencing any pain, “You’re kidding, right?”Series

“Where was I? I was at work, that thing that pays for all your pizzas, do you know? But why am I replying to this? I don’t have to give you any explanation. You have to give me a lot of explanations instead! Who is this? Why is he at my place? And why Eddie’s van is parked in front of my driveway!”
Dustin and Max share a look that means trouble, and then Dustin turns toward Steve, “Ok, don’t get mad, please. I’ll explain everything. This,” Dustin says, pointing at the kid, “is Eddie. He’s here because we didn’t know where else to bring him. And his van is parked so badly because Max drove us here and she’s not the best at parking, ok?”
“You did what? You have no fucking driving license!” Steve yells, his hands on his hips.
“That’s what you got from all that?! Eddie is five years old and you’re complaining about my driving?!” Max complains, pointing at the kid who is still throwing a tantrum about the juice.
Steve turns toward the kid once more, “I don’t know which kind of prank is this but I don’t like it."Series

The lights in the room on the second-floor twinkle two times, and Eddie slowly moves from his hiding place, climbing the wisteria pergola and slowly climbing to the window he was looking at with so much longing.
The ajar window opens widely and Eddie jumps inside the room. He’s dripping water, but Steve already has a warm towel waiting for him.
“I’m so sorry. Dad wanted to give me the entire ‘be a good omega’ speech and he didn’t let me go to my room till he was finished.”
Eddie shrugs, he would have waited forever if Steve asked him to, but tonight is their last night and he can’t avoid wishing he could turn back time and get back to the night they met. When they spent hours under the pouring rain, holding onto one another, until finally help came and dragged both of them back to the mansion with warm towels around their shoulders and as close to the fire as humanly possible.
That was the only time Eddie was allowed to step inside the mansion. It was a way to thank him for saving the family heir, or so Mr. Harrington said.Series

The two boys who get into the conference room couldn’t have been more different: one wears a shirt and a pullover over a pair of dark blue jeans, a pair of squared turtle glasses, and a very soft smile, the other is dressed all in black, with a leather jacket, a pair of high boots and some black jeans ripped at the knee revealing a huge skull tattooed on the right knee and black nail polish.

“The King has come to see his subjects.” Munson grins, smoking a cigarette.
“I’m here to pick up Dustin, is he ready to go?”
“As ready as someone who lost all his friends can be.”
“He what?” Steve asks worriedly.
“Calm down, Harrington, I’m talking about the game,” Eddie replies, smirking, while Dustin leaves the trailer sadder than he was when he first got there.
“You're the devil himself.” Dustin whines, “How could you do that to us.”
“It’s not me, young padawan, it’s just fate.” Eddie winks while Steve manages to fit Dustin’s bike in his trunk somehow and drives him back home.

This time is different from all the other times.
This time is a goodbye.
Eddie hasn’t really told him, but when he asked him to meet at Skull Rock Steve immediately got it. The road is close enough to the highway. They can share a joint, drink a beer or two, and then Eddie will drive his car far away from Hawkins. From the place that was never home to him. And Steve will remain. Because his roots are deep and strong and he can’t move. Not when the boys are still there. Not when Robin has promised to take a year off to help him figure out what he wants to do with his life. Not when his parents finally came back to take care of him even if he doesn’t need it anymore.
“My liege! Come! Sit down! I already started a fire and brought some s’mores.”
Steve sits on the ratty blanket Eddie has laid down on the ground to protect his royal ass from the bumpy rocks, grabbing a marshmallow and stabbing it with a stick, roasting it on the flame.
Crackers and chocolate are waiting for him at Eddie’s side when he puts the hot candy out of the fire.Series

Wayne endured the screaming, and the fights, and how he kept pushing and pushing eager to prove that Wayne was going to leave him like everyone else. Like his mother. Like his father.
But Wayne stayed.
He took time off from the plants to go to those stupid meetings with the teachers just to beg them not to flunk him, to give him a possibility because Eddie was clever and he deserved more than what he got.
When teachers were particularly unfriendly, Wayne wasn’t ashamed to remind them that Eddie lost his mother, that his father was in jail, and that he deserved at least a little bit of sympathy. But there was just so much Wayne could do when Eddie spray painted the word SLUT on the Maths teacher's car. Or when the neighbors called the police because on the nights Wayne was at the plant Eddie played his music so loudly he kept everyone awake.
Having kids, Wayne decided, was way too exhausting, and he didn’t even ask for one.Series
