Thorfinn looks down at his own hands—cracked and dirty with all kinds of mud beneath his fingernails. The layers to the grime on his hands have their own layers settled in the joints of his fingers.
Thorfinn thinks. Loosening the hug on himself, no longer needing to warm himself up after the fire Canute just brought before him with his words.
