Summary
“I can explain” Tubbo rushed out, raising his hands placatingly even though he most definitely could not explain. That was the whole reason why he had made the trek to the Arctic Commune in the first place.
Techno didn’t pull out a rocker launcher as his first response, so the encounter at least went better than Tubbo originally expected.
He did, however, slowly bring his right hoof to the hilt of his sword and squint his eyes menacingly at Tubbo. A warning not to step any closer that the young goat was eager to respect as he had no intention of figuring out how far he could push his new body before it broke. He thought he didn’t care, but staring death in the eyes had a way of making people reconsider their life choices.
After a few moments of silence where Techno studied him to assess the level of threat he posed, the pig spoke: “… Are you XD with a whole new meat suit or…?”.

Wilbur pressed a finger to Technos shoulder, stabbing his pointer finger into Techno’s chest. “It’s not like you haven’t before! Tommy and Tubbo are 17, age of enlistment. Maybe if you knew them better you’d know that.” Wilbur face wrinkled in all the wrong places, his yellowing teeth being show on display. Whatever expression he was making, Techno refused to recognize it as a smile.

It takes one month.
Tubbo’s face and hands heal much faster than that: the scabs come off and callouses grow over the fresh skin. He trains with Techno daily. They spar in the cave, sticks for swords, laughing and groaning as they paint one another with bruises. It is an exercise in trust. Tubbo knows how the piglin would never really hurt him.
The ravine smells like dirt and smoke and unwashed clothes. Wilbur is getting worse and worse and worse. He passes out from sheer exhaustion after days of paranoid, muttering, wakefulness. The red-end of his cigarette still glows, smoldering where it’s fallen on the sleeve of his ratty coat. Tubbo stomps it out before the flame can catch. Wilbur doesn’t stir. His breath comes in small puffs through barely-parted lips and stained teeth. Tubbo leaves quietly and immediately so that the man can get some sleep.
Technoblade is digging up potatoes that are small and hard and unripe, inedible as stones. His tongue sticks out, his ears are pinned back close to his skull. “Are you ready?” Tubbo asks him, “for the war tomorrow?”
