Fortune-telling exists in the ambiguity of youkai themselves. Signs must be interpreted, metaphors parsed, exact conditions met. Asking a dozen people for one's fortune would result in a dozen variations, and when the fortune came to be, each fortune-teller would find ways to bend their own words to suit what had happened. It's the supernatural for fools, romanticists, or both.

This made my heart ache so much, like...it literally hurt, but in a good way ofc! And that heart-warming ending, healed me, and put the pieces of my heart back together.
My favorite kind of fic. I absolutely loved it, all of it, from the first paragraph to the last one, it was an extremely inmersive story. However, note to self: have some tissues and lots of water (to rehydrate) at hand, when you come back to re-read this one. You're gonna need them, trust me, future me. -

Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng hug him the same way, like he’s precious and important and he could leave them at any second.
He wonders who taught who to hold people like this. He wonders if this is something they learned apart rather than together.***
Jin Ling steels himself and leans over hug Wei Wuxian, who returns it instantly and easily. He can’t give Wei Wuxian shit for not expressing his feelings if he’s not willing to do it either, right? Besides, clearly Wei Wuxian is all out of sorts from seeing Jiang Cheng and spending so much time with Lan Wangji these past couple of days. “You’re my dumbest uncle.”
