Jason Todd woke up not with a bang but a whimper. He didn’t wake up, running out of the Cave to do the Mission. He didn’t wake up in time to save his little brother from a too-far tumble. He didn’t wake up to a heartfelt speech.
There was no Lazarus pit. No magical artifacts. No wizard coming in to set things right or a miracle doctor with some cutting edge new technique.
It was with the care and support of his soulmates that he woke up. Yet now, Jason has to wonder… is this place still home?

Jason woke up. This was a particularly unexpected event, but he could not quite remember why it was unexpected. His eyes had just opened to find a world very different from his expectations.He was in the library, resting on his favorite chair. A boy he knew but didn’t know HOW he knew was scribbling down math equations. Bruce was sitting at another table quietly reading Emma aloud. Alfred was walking into the library, hands behind his back. It was all very normal. Domestic even. If not for the strange boy, Jason almost would have thought nothing had changed at all... but something about it all seemed wrong to him.

In his bedroom, Bruce stood in front of the mirror and once again tried to tie his tie right. Alfred had shown him just yesterday how to do it, but for some reason he just couldn’t quite replicate the work. The tie just wouldn’t work right, settling crookedly against his chest. He huffed in annoyance, his nose crinkling with displeasure in the mirror. “Coming dad!” He shouted over his shoulder. “Just one second!”
Clumsy fingers untied the knot, then tried it again with the same results. Bruce frowned. “What am I doing wrong?” He muttered.

“Having pups.” Lian said firmly. “It’s free labor.” She added, total sincerity laced through her scent.
Tim was fighting for his life to not laugh at her, but it was so hard because her face was just so serious, in the way that only a six-year-old who had decided they knew what life was all about could be. “You might be onto something.” He managed to say. “Tell me more?”
“We’re not being paid to do chores.” Lian said. “So we’re doing stuff for free and are not being com-pen-sated. But they can do that ‘cause we’re just pups. We can’t tell ‘em no.”

Dick had been... uneasy lately. In a way that was very difficult to explain to everyone. It started a couple weeks back when he ran into Peter. A, at the time, homeless guy who'd just faced down the Riddler with a silly joke and no fucks given. And had also apparently recently died? He'd heard about two seconds of the conversation while he'd been planning his entrance and then the Riddler had just. Walked out. Without killing anyone. Because Peter had thrown his own riddle back at him and said a funnier answer.
So yeah, sue him, after he subdued the Riddler, he started a somewhat ridiculous quest to exchange a stolen twenty-dollar bill with a not-stolen one (long story), watched him accuse an entire building full of crooked cops of being crooked, and then he met Harry.
...Maybe Harry? Peter called the green rat Harry, but...
Well, and this was why he'd been uneasy. Because Harry was a green rat.
A GREEN. Rat.

TLDR, Harry got reincarnated as a green rat and, well, who else is green and can turn into animals...? Dick has concerns.

And when Jason pushed aside his obsession with Bruce, the answer was so clear. He knew exactly what he wanted. He knew what he’d always wanted, ever since he was that little street rat who spent money he needed for food on making himself look clean. Because he’d needed to look clean and presentable to get into the public libraries. Because they wouldn’t have let a dirty homeless kid touch the books.
“I want to go to college.”
And Talia had made that happen for him.
(AU where, at the end of his League of Assassins training, Jason decides to go to Metropolis for college instead of going back to Gotham for revenge. Things spiral from there. The title is so sarcastic by the way. There’s nothing regular about Jason Todd.)

Batman dies saving Red Hood.
Jason Todd doesn't agree with this outcome and wishes for more time.
He wakes up, thirteen and earnest, in his childhood bedroom in Wayne Manor. Bruce is knocking at his door in an attempt to rouse him. Jason remembers this day. They're going to a Gotham Knights game later in the afternoon. Bruce's blood is still warm and criminal on his hands.
Or, the one where being Robin never gave Jason magic—he was a little magic all along. Jason decides to do things a little differently the second time around. This time, he’s determined to save Bruce—soul and all.

I really like how this story went about reintegrating Tim into the family. It really came off natural and real. And it didn’t just bash on the not-Tim characters to make Tim’s side look even better. I really liked his ending conversation with Dick in particular, it really highlighted what exactly Dick’s been thinking this whole time.
