Summary
Buck stares, unblinking, at the screen for a long time. For too long, maybe.
He has no idea how to even begin to make sense of what he’s looking at, even if he knew to expect this. It must be written all over his face in any case, as the technician takes in his expression in one breath and is adjusting the screen away from him in the next. It’s very slight, doesn’t really hinder much, but the simple gesture of kindness is enough to bring tears to his eyes.

"Buck smiled as he watched Tommy chase Jee-Yun around the backyard. "You'll never catch me, I'm Super Jee!" she cried.
"Maddie?" Buck asked, turning to his sister. "Were you scared?"
"Scared of what?" she inquired, following his gaze to where Tommy was now pretending to be defeated by Jee-Yun's superpowers.
"Of becoming a mom," he said softly.
"Oh gosh! Buck, are you two—?" Her eyes widened with understanding.
