When L’manberg suffers a suspicious death or an unfindable missing person, citizens side eye each other and mutter that ‘vampires must have got them’, before going on with their lives, avoiding dark alleys.
Everyone knows it’s not really vampires. It’s better to invoke a mythical creature than let the real culprits know you know they exist.
But awareness doesn’t always equal safety, and Technoblade finds himself in an underground medical facility. He gets out, but the wounds inflicted during the attack leave weird scars. And worse, his murderers aren't willing to give up their hit.
…vampires are just a cover story, right? Not the explanation for Techno’s suddenly red eyes, low appetite, and inability to sleep.

There’s supposed to be a method to turning someone. Befriend them, first. Decide they’re worth immortality. Then the initial bite, with enough venom to stop their heart and start the transformation. Their heart should restart within twenty four hours - if it doesn’t, the turn didn’t take, and they’re just dead.
Once the turn has started, the vampire has twelve hours to prepare everything. Maybe thirteen, but no more than sixteen. At the twelfth hour, the half-turned vampire must be fed vampire blood - preferably from their coven, but an enemy’s can work in a pinch - and buried for a time. Tim Drake has made his career out of the improbable. The whole, Bruce-Is-In-The-Timestream Incident, for one. Ra's Al Ghul, and the multiple secret identities of fellow heroes and even some villains as another, and really, they should make more of an effort to hide if they didn't want him to know.
This scenario was equally improbable. His parents, essentially parent-trapping him? Mega-Yikes, as the kids would say. No-Cap, Tim would reply, if only to watch Jon stutter and try to explain "that isn't how you use that word!"
In any case, Tim can handle two surprise siblings. Especially supposed civilians. Maybe it'll go poorly, but hey, it can't be any worse than his first meetings with Jason and Damian.Right?

When one crowd turns into an all-out brawl, Phil tries to step in and stop the fight. Unfortunately for him, it may not have been as random of a fight as he'd thought. This just leads Phil to participating in a ceremony that he hadn't intended to, ultimately leading to more than he'd bargained for.
While Phil didn't know a lot about aliens, he was about to when it turned out the fight was actually a ceremonial duel for a particular Piglin's hand in marriage.
