They’ll have to agree to disagree on that one. Because from where Buck’s standing- leaning- trapped- this has cosmic retribution written all over it. The 118 were called to the subway station for a passenger complaining of chest pains. Buck can count on one hand the number of times he’s ever even set foot in LA’s little-known underground railway system. And before the doors to the compartment with their would-be patient could even open, the ceiling gave an almighty rumble and rained down right on top of them.
“Still think you should’ve let me kiss you when we had the chance,” he grumbles.
Buck can be petulant too, thank you very much.
“Did you say kiss? Did he say kiss?!” Chimney’s voice projects from the radio on his shoulder that is not, in fact, broken.
“I definitely heard the word kiss,” Hen confirms.

Really, it was Lena’s fault. She’d been the one to demand a video when Eddie had finally caved and sent an SOS to the group chat asking if anyone was willing to trade.
“Is anyone interested in trading jerseys with me? Preferably for a smaller size,” Eddie had said because knowing his coworkers, one of them would’ve been a smart ass and gave him an even bigger size. “I ordered an XL because I’m usually a XL but… the way it fits makes me look like I’m fucking one of the players.”
Eddie wasn't trying to go viral. He just wanted to trade his jersey. But then something called Booktok got involved.

Summary
Buck all but skipped down the hallway, Eddie picking up the snow globe once more. The glitter had all settled back to the bottom, Eddie studying the picture over. His watch beeped, reminding Eddie it was time to take the roast out for dinner, Eddie looking away from the gift for a split second. When he turned back to it, the picture had changed.
Instead of being one of the three of them, it was one of Buck and Eddie from the first Christmas Eddie had been with the 118. They had taken Chris together to see Santa, the two sitting in front of the water fountain. Eddie had been wearing his red checkered flannel while Buck had on a burgundy shirt with a brown coat, the shirt really bringing out his adorable birthmark. It was impossible to have a picture of it though—Eddie had only taken pictures of Chris that night.
He shook the globe, waiting for the glitter to settle once more, frowning when the picture returned to the one of the three of them. Weird. Must’ve been a trick of the light or something.

Summary
Navigating the aftermath of Shannon’s death, Eddie never thought he’d be a widower by age thirty-two and raising a kid on his own without any help. Buck has had a terrible year. His physical injuries from the truck bombing were bad enough but having Ali leave him seems like a sign from the universe that he’s always meant to be alone. Listening to the radio at night, he hears the most adorable kid ever talking about how his Dad is sad and needs a new partner—LA kids are pretty progressive, and this Christopher kid isn’t particular if his Dad ends up with a woman or a man. It almost gives him hope, but who would want to date a firefighter who can’t help anyone?
