“It’s…Zelda, right?” he asked hesitantly. “Zelda Bos…Bosso…” He couldn’t remember her last name. He’d only heard it once before, at the summer neighborhood cookout, when the older lady two doors down warned him to steer clear of the eccentric robotics engineer who lived at the end of the cul-de-sac. At the time, Link—never a social butterfly with new people anyway—had shrugged and taken the neighbor’s advice.
“Bosphoramus,” she supplied. “You’re Link Firly, yes?”
“Yes,” he breathed, and shook her hand.
It was warm.
…He tried not to think too hard about that.

Or, Link is terrible at shoveling his driveway in the winter, and Zelda invites herself over to give him a hand. Or many hands. Guardians have a lot of limbs, after all!

At the end of the second swallow, she finally opened her eyes—and caught Link in the midst of a sip of his own. Watching her.
Why did the warmth in his eyes look so…different? Had he ever looked at her that way before, in all their years of friendship?
Maybe it was just the glow of the streetlamp they stood beneath, transforming the snow into glittering fairy dust and the ambiance into spun gold. If they left this place, if they took their walk as planned, perhaps the clear blue moon would return them to the same light they’d always been cast in.
Why did the thought of that make her chest so tight?

Zelda and Link have been joined at the hip since elementary school, so when her best friend starts acting weird, Zelda notices straightaway. He's avoiding eye contact, blushing at her jokes, jumping away when she gets too close. She's determined to figure out just what is going on.

“— Did you have to retreat?”
“…Didn’t fight it today. Five days ago. And ten. But also today.”

Summary
Zelda can sense the return of danger, and she knows she is the one destined to stop it. She won’t fail. Not with all this wisdom and all this authority at her fingertips.
Ganondorf can feel the curse creeping up on him, but he’s no closer to finding a way out than when he first learned of it. This hatred that fights to consume him will come for all his people next if he doesn’t stop it.
Link’s brother is missing. Bodyguard to the princess, Rift disappeared with her after the appearance of the Dark Beast in Gerudo Desert. Now a Voice is calling Link to defeat that Beast to save Hyrule and reunite his family.
