It's when the main worry has worn off. It's when his days aren't so exhausting anymore that he can just drop into bed. It's when both Eddie and Bobby are mostly fine again, it's when Ana has taken over a lot of the management of Eddie's recovery and Athena is taking care of Bobby's.
It's when Buck starts lying awake at night.

Summary
Eddie doesn't have a problem with heights, hot air, or balloons. Usually, he would have said the same thing about Buck- he's seen him doing insane stunts while being high up, knows he doesn't have a problem with warmth and as soon as there's a balloon close to him chances are that the game of 'keep it in the air' will start in the next minute.
Somehow, all these things connected seem to be a problem though. Eddie tries to figure it out.Or, 3 times they had conversations about a hot air balloon (and Buck was less then thrilled, Eddie didn't think one could have this kind of grudge against a hot air balloon) and one time Eddie does something about it.

"Yeah, there was this call with those two brothers…", Chim starts while Buck and Ravi start clearing away the boxes full of conserved food, water and a lot of other stuff that Buck doesn't even want to think about.
He takes a step through the hallway where he just cleared away one of the boxes, making space for a much shorter way to get their patient out of here, when he feels the floor give in a little beneath his foot.
And hears the click. He looks down at the floor and the kind of obvious part of it that looks different.
"Oh. That's not good…"

Or, Buck is on shift when he steps on a bomb. Eddie, for once isn't- but that doesn't mean he'll let Buck be alone through all of this.

It happens naturally, is the thing. So, so naturally that Buck doesn't even notice it happened, at first, not until he's sitting at the table in the station, coffee in his hands, talking to Bobby. Obviously, the realization hits him in the middle of a sip and he inhales enough coffee to make him seriously consider never touching a mug again, while he's retching over the sink trying to get it all out.
Or: Buck kisses his best friend, realizes he's in love with him and is a disaster about it. Eddie is confused, but decides to go with it. Christopher would like them to stop, please, he's getting a headache.
