Magic was might, his great equalizer against physical strength and class systems. If he couldn’t beat the Dennis Bishops and the Abraxas Malfoys of the world at their own games, he would invent a new one. Tom had always been exceptionally fond of games—particularly rearranging the rules to suit himself. There had been no one to complain about such transgressions when he had only himself for company, and he saw no reason to change his ways now.
He had brought Dennis and Amy to heel in the end; Abraxas would be no different.
