Summary
Eddie woke up to a large weight on his chest with the sun shining directly onto his face through the blinds. His bed felt different than normal. The mattress was stiffer and the pillows were hard, it wasn’t what he was used to. His back hurt, it felt like he was laying on top of something but he wasn’t sure what.
He flickered his eyes open letting them adjust to the sunlight. The first thing he noticed was the ceiling. It was a navy blue but his ceiling was white. The next thing he noticed was Buck.
Or: Eddie and Buck wake up in bed together the night after Chim’s bachelor party and try to retrace their steps to remember what happened.

Bobby looked up, then, glancing back and forth between the two of them—Buck, giving Eddie his best lovesick puppy dog eyes, Eddie ignoring him. “What’s going on here?” he asked.
“Oh, we’d need several psychologists to unpack that,” said Hen. “Maybe an anthropologist, too.”
Next to her, Ravi grimaced and explained, “I said something stupid earlier, and now Buck has been flirting with Eddie all day, to drive us insane.”

The blonde handed him a $10 bill and asked, “You new here?” He paused, looking down at the brunette’s nametag, “Eddie, I don’t think I’ve seen you here before.”
“I’ve been here almost 3 months. You seem to be a regular, so I don’t know why I haven’t seen you.”
Tessa chimed in, “You don’t see him because Buck usually comes in before you do, Eddie.”
“Well, that answers the question of why neither of us has run into each other,” Eddie answered.
“Hmm, maybe I need to start coming in a little bit later. It’s a shame I’ve missed out on seeing your beautiful face all this time.”
Eddie felt like he might melt into the floor, and his face was burning even hotter with a blush that he was sure was making his face look like a tomato. Thankfully, his coworker came to his rescue because he wasn’t sure what sound would come out if he spoke.

Summary
Moving to LA and joining the LAFD, Eddie had planned to keep his head down. His only plan was to get through his shifts, take care of his son, and figure out this whole "single dad" gig for the sake of his little boy. He didn't plan to focus all that much on making new friends. He certainly didn't plan to keep date-crashing Carla's handsome teacher-friend with the birthmark just over his eye.

Eddie barely has time to start the car before Chris is asking, "Dad, did you know dinosaurs had feathers?"
Eddie chuckles, setting the radio to a nineties station on low volume, "I did not know that, bud."
"It's true! Buck told me!" But with Chris's youthful lisp the name was still pronounced like "Duck."
"Oh, well if Buck said so it must be true," Eddie snorts.
"Hey," Buck gave Eddie a light smack on his shoulder, "I'll have you know I'm a trusted source for information."
Eddie can't help but smirk back, "And with you saying so, it must be true."

“Good job, Mr. Buckley,” Firefighter Diaz says, once he’s standing right in front of Buck. He holds out the small toy, eyebrow quirking up. Is everything in slow motion? Buck thinks everything is in slow motion.
It feels like it takes forever for him to reach out and take it, but time seems to speed back up when their fingers brush, just slightly, during the exchange. He breathes in a little too sharply and nods at him, like, yes, an idiot, and his mouth is moving before he can stop it. “Uh, yes, yeah, thank you.”
...or, Buck’s an elementary school teacher. Eddie’s the hot firefighter that visits his school for a fire safety assembly. He is so normal about it. Seriously. Just ask his coworkers.
