Slowly, Jennifer unlatched her bedroom window and lifted it up. She winced at the squeaking noise and hoped that it wouldn't wake up her parents, stopping to listen for any sign that she had. Relieved that she couldn't hear even a hint, she grabbed her purse from where she had set it down on the floor and swung her leg over the other side, her foot making contact with the ground. She swung her other leg over and took a second before she began moving, ducking down below the windows, just in case.
