“For what it’s worth, dumbass,” Tommy tells him, “I’m glad you’re not dead.”
(Wilbur’s smile tells him it’s worth a hell of a lot.)
“I’m glad you’re not dead, too,” Wilbur replies. Then he sobers, regarding Tommy seriously, almost fiercely. “If you ever feel that way again, Tommy, you tell me, okay? I’m signing up for this, got that? You won’t have to go through that alone again.”
And Tommy? Tommy is definitely not blinking hard to push back tears. The stinging in his eyes is just dust or something, obviously. Big men don’t cry.
“Neither will you,” he croaks, and holds up a hand towards Wilbur, pinky extended. Wilbur hooks it with his own, and they shake.
Tommy thinks, just maybe, Wilbur might be one of his corner pieces.

Another text from Wilbur, one that says it would be good to see you. Techno types out a reply, thinks about it, and then backspaces until it says nothing at all.
He stares at the phone for a long time, long enough that his boss walks by and he has to shove it under his desk and actually go back to work. Wilbur’s waited three years; he can wait a few more hours until Techno gets off work. He jams his phone into his pocket and goes back to the drudgery of his 9 to 5 job.

If we’re being honest, which happens more rarely than you think, that isn’t where it all began. Actually, it starts like this: Techno can’t remember how he met Wilbur, or how old they were, or how they became friends, but that’s exactly what they were. He still has a photo album overflowing with pictures of the two of them as toddlers, kids, teenagers, doing everything together. They used to be inseparable.
Wilbur tapes Techno’s glasses together when he gets into a fistfight that breaks them in middle school, and Techno pulls Wilbur’s first tooth for him with a wad of tissues and a straight face when Techno is seven and Wilbur is six and too scared to do it himself.

Growing up steals the closeness. Growing up tends to do that.

One day, Techno thinks often, one day we won’t have been friends longer than we were. He keeps thinking it, no matter how much he wishes he could stop.Techno doesn’t know when they stopped being friends. He just knows it was a long time ago, maybe longer than he wants to admit.

Of course they’re all fully booked. Why is Atsumu even surprised?
Whatever, it’s not like they haven’t shared a bed before. He’ll just have to fight for the covers– he has years of practice under his belt.
OR: the one where the twins go to a resort together and there was only one bed, but it's platonic bed sharing.

Oikawa opens his mouth, and Hanamaki cuts in. “For the love of God, Oikawa, if you point at Iwaizumi and say he started it , I will throw you off the cheering stands onto the court. And I will take pictures and post it on your webpage, don’t think I won’t do it.”
Iwaizumi is a walking Oikawa dictionary. Matsukawa and Hanamaki have taken to randomly springing questions on him and even they’re impressed about the amount of knowledge Iwaizumi retains about Oikawa, seeing as they’ve been ignoring each other for about six years.
“Do you want to go out with me?” He parrots, even as he knows it’s a stupid question because Iwaizumi is as oblivious as a rock but once he gets going, he gets going and it’s now amazingly obvious that they’ve been dancing around each other like some salsa-wannabe newbies who keep tripping over their feet and can’t turn properly. It’s blatantly obvious that yes, the two of them are going to get together, and that ‘getting together’ is happening now .
