When they sit down, the plastic of the chair clings to her thighs; when she rips herself away, her skin burns. She doesn’t yet know she’s going to miss the stickiness forever. Here’s the problem: Pran’s parents are throwing a Christmas dinner-slash-party in exactly two weeks and Wai has managed not only to invent a fake boyfriend, but also promise to bring him over with him. Summary
In a noisy bar next to a university campus, Korn claims that he's going to keep coming back there for the rest of his life, and Wai doesn't believe him.
“I can bet you won’t even be here in a year.”
“Oh, can you?” Korn replies quickly, eyebrow cocked like a challenge. “It’s a deal, then.”
There’s a pause in Wai’s exterior, but inside his head, it’s a battlefield. His natural response is to back away, threaten with a punch, and storm off. That’s what he’d usually do if Korn managed to get this close. But it’s been long enough since their usual turned into a memory, and he’s drunk enough to have an excuse as to why he’d try to hold onto this unusual instead.
“It’s a deal,” Wai repeats. “Here, in exactly a year. We’ll see.”

Summary
Korn is limping a few steps behind Wai the whole way to the pharmacy, only a slow breath can be heard from him, and Wai is finding it unnerving. He doesn’t like that Korn could jump him at any moment and he wouldn’t have any idea until the last moment, he doesn’t like that Korn isn’t speaking at all, he doesn’t like that he can hear Korn’s breathing getting shallower from time to time, and he doesn’t like that it makes him slow down without a second thought. Maybe he just doesn’t like Korn.
Of course he doesn’t like Korn. He’s not sure why he has to remind himself of that.

There, as you drove down the streets, you would see names of the past champions, proof of their legacy, forever engraved, at least on these street plates in this town. Erik Lehnsherr dreamt of putting his own name on one of them, making sure if no one remembered him, at least this city would.
Charles Xavier never had a dream like that. He just wanted to do his job at McLaren, as quiet and unnoticed as possible. He didn't realize soon enough it would no longer be possible, as a Ferrari driver stumbled into his life and acted like the goal was theirs now, not just his.
