Summary
“This isn’t my life!” Buck exclaims. “This is not how it’s supposed to be. Abby is supposed to be gone. She’s supposed to have left. As in, left Los Angeles, not left me to marry Bobby. Bobby’s supposed to marry Athena.”
“Cap and Athena? But she’s—”
“Married. Yeah,” Buck huffs. “Like I said, that doesn’t work out.”
“Because Real Michael is gay?” Eddie asks skeptically.
“Real Michael is gay,” Buck confirms.
OR: After his break up with Tommy, Buck falls asleep on Eddie’s couch and wakes up in a world where Bobby is married to Abby, Hen and Karen are divorced, Athena and Michael are faking a happy marriage, Chim has a daughter that is not Buck's niece, and—just to really, personally fuck with him—Eddie and Maddie are engaged to be married.

Summary
Before Eddie can think of any more excuses, Buck bursts back through the surface of the water with Eddie’s body in his arms.
Eddie looks down at himself, still kneeling on the dock, and then at what is unmistakably also him in the water. Buck sucks in a great gasp of air, but the Eddie in the water doesn’t. His head slumps limp onto Buck’s shoulder, and the puzzle pieces of the last few minutes suddenly fall into place.
Finding himself back on the dock with no memory of how he got there. Buck unable to see or hear him. Eddie’s hand passing right through him.
Oh. He didn’t make it out of the water. He drowned.

Summary
“But… you’re straight.”
Eddie snorts, taking a sip of his beer. “I am well aware of that, Buck.”
“So why do you want to take me on dates?” Buck asks incredulously. “Won’t that make you uncomfortable?”
That makes Eddie sit up straighter, a frown playing on his lips. “I already told you that you being into men changes nothing between us. I meant that.”
“Okay, fine, great. That doesn’t mean you have to start buying me romantic dinners.”
“I don’t have to do anything,” Eddie points out. “I want to. At the very least so that you understand what romance really looks like and don’t settle for a dickwad like Tommy ever again.”
-
OR: After his breakup with Tommy, Buck tells Eddie all the ‘romantic’ things Tommy did for him. Eddie is not impressed and takes matters into his own hands.

Summary
Eddie keeps thinking about the smudges of soot he’d seen on Buck’s face at the wedding, around his mouth. He keeps thinking about self-denial and the things that could—would—bring him joy if he just let himself have them. His jaw tenses and aches.
So, because he’s apparently insane, he says, “I could help you.”
“What do you mean?”
“With the scent thing,” Eddie says. “I mean… if you want me to.”

Summary
"What happened?" He stays relaxed in his couch with his beer held loosely between his legs. Buck doesn't twitch or react in any way to signal that he heard him. His eyes are locked on the wall like it's the train wreck that has him shutting down.
"Buck." Eddie leans forward. The sweat has started to dry into a sticky film that pulls his skin taut.
"Tommy—" He inhales on a hiccup. His lips ghost across the top of his beer, but at least he's no longer inhaling it like he needs it, "He broke up with me."

Summary
Buck woke up to a cold bed, and for a moment, his sleep-deprived mind thought he was still in the loft, until he looked up and saw stars. They were small, glow-in-the-dark and softly lit in the dim morning sun. Chris had begged for them, and when Buck and Eddie finally surrendered, they hung them above his bed and then he’d insisted that Eddie’s room have some too. He squinted, the stars coming into view as he did, and he smiled, until the events of the night slowly sharpened into focus along with the shapes.

Summary
As Buck watches Eddie return to his dishes, he realizes that he looks ashamed. Why would Father Brian showing up make Eddie ashamed? And then it dawns on him. Eddie wouldn’t dry heave and panic over just a wet dream. It must have been more. He must have dreamed about something. And oh. He dreamed about Father Brian. The Brian who is a priest and…a man. Oh my god. Eddie had a gay dream about a priest. His catholic guilt is definitely having a field day right now.
Buck doesn’t even care if Eddie is going to pull away. He feels that as Eddie’s bi best friend, he is uniquely equipped to handle this situation. And he has to help him somehow.
Or...
Eddie develops a little crush on Father Brian after meeting him at the juice bar which leads lots of catholic guilt and working through some major compulsory heterosexuality. All so he can be emotionally ready and available for Buck when he eventually realizes that he's definitely in love with his buff best friend, roommate, and co-parent. Oh, and Eddie still leaves Buck but only for a couple days and comes back with Chris, so it's perfect.

“I don’t think I’m straight” Eddie laughed.
“I mean” Buck took a sip in his coffee “it doesn’t have to mean anything”
“Right” Eddie’s heart sunk but he nodded “And you just got dump”

“Buck,” he whispers, heart beating furiously in his chest.
“Yeah?”
“It wasn’t about the juice.”
“I know.” Buck tells him, whispering too, and inching closer.
“I think-” Eddie starts, breath catching in his throat, “I think it was about you. It’s always been about you.” He finally says.

Summary
"You're not a gay guy. Is it that hard to make your partners cum?" He asks, finding himself finally including an equally drunk Eddie in his ramblings.
Eddie seems to falter, finally glancing over at Buck. The TV's still on, except this time neither of them knows what's on. They're in their own little world.
"Never been a problem for me," The other man replies, rubbing over his upper lip like he's done all night, reminding himself that his (not so) beloved mustache is gone. "But Tommy's used to dicks. I'm not."
