"You, firefighter Buckley, are now Interim Captain for A-shift, station 118, effective immediately.” Buck pursed his lips, seeing the hard look in the man’s eyes telling him to keep his mouth shut. “When all of them, Captain Nash, Paramedics Wilson and Han, and Firefighter Diaz, the whole A-shift clique, are cleared medically, you will no longer be part of their team.”

“Are you temporarily promoting me and firing me at the same time?” Buck asked incredulously.

“No, I am not. You will no longer be part of their team, because you will report directly to me. You will become a floater at whatever station I tell you you are floating at for whatever duration I direct. You have the most qualifications and certifications of any firefighter in LA, only missing your paramedic certification. I was informed you would pass if you ever actually applied for and took the exam.”

    ---

    “And I don’t get a say?”

“Not if you want to remain a member of the LAFD.” Chief Simmons said with finality. They stared at one another for a few more tense moments before the Chief straightened up and left Buck alone in the Captain’s office.

    Summary

"For those who understand, no explanation is necessary; for those who don't understand, no explanation is possible." – USMC

A murdered radio shock-jock and Navy lieutenant. White bread upper middles buying bombs. Weird case, weirder attitudes in the bullpen. Tony has suspicions, but up until yesterday, until Tony slid into the backseat of the agency sedan with his teammates, until they dropped their little bombshell and sent shrapnel gouging deep trenches in Tony's worldview, he'd called McGee and Ziva partners. Gibbs was another story entirely.

    Summary

Buck ... does not understand everyone's relationship with religion. He wants to, though. So he starts reading and researching and, yeah, maybe he gets in a little far before he talks to anyone about it. Other than Eddie. Because, yeah, everyone has a different relationship with religion, because it's an inherently personal experience. But surely it has to make some kind of sense, right?

    Bookmarker's Notes

“I don’t think I read the same bible as you.” Buck said carefully. “I don’t remember that being in any chapter. But, I do remember a commandment about loving your neighbor as yourself. It just … it sounds to me like you don’t love yourself if you’re willing to scream at your neighbor like that.” The guy blinked at Buck dumbly. “Besides, the bible also talks about how we are made in his image, right?” He nodded slowly. “So are you saying he made a mistake in the design of some people or that the free will we were granted is the flaw? The thing is,” he finished wrapping the guy’s hand gently, “letting relationships of other people impact your mind and spirituality so much is only going to affect you. They are still going to go on and live their lives as they want. As they were designed with the same free will you and I have. So, maybe next time, if it starts to make you angry, cross the street or something? It’s not good for your heart or mental health to be holding anger for something that literally has nothing to do with you.”
