Summary
With Zero having drank Kuran’s blood, he smells enough like the ex-humans the Kuran from this time turned, and they didn’t bat an eye at him joining the fighting ranks. He’s only been here for a couple weeks, and they haven’t been called to arms yet, but Zero gets a feeling it’ll happen soon.
He wonders if the Kuran ancestor is off turning more humans into vampires to replace the ones being killed right now.
The executioner goes to reload his gun, but he only puts one last bullet in it. They’re on the last unlucky ex-human of the batch, and with another gunshot, there’s no more level Es in the courtyard.
They hadn’t even been chained up. No one had guided them to the gallows. Kuran, through some freaky pureblood magic, must’ve commanded them to comply, and they did.
Everyone gets back to work.
...Or, Zero is sent back in time to when the Kuran ancestor was the Vampire King.

His dad would clap him on the back as his mom sectioned out how much of it Waylen could keep and how much of it went towards maintaining the house and the business. Waylen always looked so happy.
So it was no surprise when Finnick followed in his shoes. Only it didn’t take long to realize the shoes fit Finnick much better than they ever fit Waylen.

It’s pointless to say it, really, Tucker and Sam had both already come to the conclusion themselves, but Danny needed to say it. He can practically hear Jazz telling him the first step of overcoming anything is acknowledging your problem.
That’s all it takes for the tears in Sam’s eyes to start to fall, and then Danny is looking helplessly at his crying two best friends. They’re crying because they lost their friend, Danny thinks. Their friend died.

It was a quiet town near Boston and along the Atlantic coast, and due to its unfortunate history, it attracted all kinds of strange people, allowing Percy’s oddities and nocturnal habits to seem normal. It had everything Percy needed after his mother’s untimely death and his move from NYC.
Unfortunately, during the month of October, the normally quaint town turned into a tourist hellscape. The wealthier citizens would leave during the month of October, but since both of Percy’s jobs were in hospitality, he kind of needed to work during the peak tourism season.
