It was late at night, the sun was gone, the ocean dark and the octopod as well. Kwazii was cold, and he hates the cold. The Arctic, let alone the Antarctic, is not his forte. The outside was cold, and so was the Octopod. Luckily, Barnacles is warm, and invites him in.

As human society and civilization was collapsing, scientists worked hard on trying to preserve the human species. The best solution was a cryogenic stasis that halted everything in one's body for the sake of staying alive for longer and surviving the consequences of the disasters that were coming.
The technology didn't get much spread due to it's side effects, but several test subjects were indeed preserved until better times.

He could think about that later though, since right now the wind was screaming in his face and into his ears as he dropped faster and faster. A yowl tore itself from Kwazii’s mouth and was promptly snatched away by the wind, pure adrenaline and joy behind the sound. His ears flicked back on instinct and his tail straightened out behind him like an arrow, trying to reduce drag. Any scientists on the ground who said that sapients weren’t meant to have wings obviously did not know what they were talking about, since they had never seen any of the Aeronauts in flight.
For a secretive team of animals known as the Aeronauts, the above-clouds sky is home and nowhere is truly inaccessible. Life on a giant bird ship is never dull, whether it's avian creatures that need to be saved or more mundane things like "the mechanic fell asleep on the job again and fooled us all into thinking she died". But of course the Aeronauts are up here for a reason, and many of them have traumas that they'd much rather leave on the ground.

Summary
Windward is a relatively quiet town on the Canadian east coast. Nothing interesting or newsworthy really happens there, except the occasional hurricane and holidays. Or at least nothing that the general public is aware of. It's late spring, and a freak earthquake has just kick-started a chain of events that will bring six teens together and thrust them into adventures beyond all imagining. Nothing is off the table and no one can say for sure what's next, but one thing is for sure: Windward will never be the same again.
Featuring a giant octopus mech, crystals of a peculiar nature and teenagers who are prone to unwise decisions. What could go wrong?
No knowledge of Octonauts is required to enjoy this fic. It can be read as an original story.
