This story began with a question: What if this (BG3 plot) happened to someone with a normal life, a job to go to, and no outstanding skills? The main character, a female 28-year-old human, seems to be the only one infected with an alien larva set to overwrite her mind and body within days. Driving her desperate quest to find a cure amidst battling memory loss and brain damage - and doing it alone, except for one friend - she starts to subtly change and adapt. Instead of game's original companions, she's accompanied by characters inspired by individuals and organizations from my real life. If you recognize yourself here: take it as a compliment. I wrote this story because while playing I went through a storm of emotions and needed to put that into words. (Yes, it gets a bit emotional at times). Game's side characters also make appearances, particularly those whom I found morally complex, unexpectedly likeable, or essential to story. Some are examined in depth, because their actions gave me no peace for months.
