Mata Nui, once the Great Spirit to the Matoran and Toa, betrayed and backstabbed by his brother the Makuta, exciled and casted out of his own body with his spirit trapped inside the Ignika aka the Mask of Life as his people were enslaved
He is now reformed in his old body before the titan robot on Bara Magna, the now barren desert wasteland planet the Great Beings abandoned centuries ago when The War of The Core reached it's peek, a planet he remembered so lush and beautiful
As Mata Nui tries to find his way back to his people, he must help this planet's people with a traitor amongst the barley standing villages who managed to unite two once rival villages into an army
But with the first time in centuries feeling what emotions are with the once greatest Glatorian of Bara Magna
Is anything able to hold up?

He will buckle, take many steps back until he starts his first baby steps forward. Lucy will be there to help, argue and scream at him. She tries to emulate her lost Emmet and bring a villain to the side of good. It is a really bad plan, and she isn’t very good at it, but she is trying.

Summary
As the Great Spirit Mata Nui is cast from his body and sent across the galaxy, the Matoran Universe falls to the darkness of Makuta Teridax. Every day looks more hopeless than the last as Toa, Turaga, and matoran alike try to figure out a way to defeat their new Great Spirit. Meanwhile, Mata Nui crash lands on a harsh desert planet, and rebuilds himself a new, much smaller body. In his mortal form, Mata Nui learns to fight and create bonds of friendship, but it will not be enough. He needs to learn his ultimate purpose as the Great Spirit, and to find a way to free his people from Makuta's clutches. The final confrontation with Makuta Teridax begins.

[Takes place some time after the last comic of the G1 Saga]
There are five stages of grief; Denail, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance
After Mata Nui used his remaining power to reform Spherus Magna and was forced back into the Ignika/Mask of Light, the said mask lying dormant, it was easy to see his close confidants hurting after it all
The Matoran knew behind the facades of their beloved Toa, that they were hurting and breaking on the inside for the loss of their father, the Toa Nuva and Takanuva were the closest you could get to Mata Nui's own children without them needing to be born
While the Agori could easily see that Ackar, Kiina, Gresh and even Berix were grieving as well despite their own facades of the loss of their close friend who helped give the Agori and Glatorian the strength and will to rise against the united army of Skrall and Bone Hunters, unite the villages and defeated Tuma

A what-if post Journey's End Comic/novelization from one of my Tumblr posts if Mata Nui reformed to his Toa body after defeating Makuta and reforming Spherus Magna and was buried beneath the the rubble of his first body and the prototype and had to deal with the recovery of both injuries, trauma and power/energy drain from all the events that had happened since being put into his first coma from Makuta with the help of the Glatorian and the Nuva with Ackar/Mata Nui ship bc I love some Gay Old Men
Strength fading fast, Mata Nui could feel conciseness slipping from his fingertips fast, all he hoped was that he did it. Saved his people and friends, reformed the planet to its former glory and give a new hope for them. He could only hope they could survive without him once again if he didn't make it

“I’ll be fine Gresh, I’ve been fine without them actually caring for me I’ll be fine now.” She reassured her boyfriend who sighed. “Kiina-” Gresh’s ears twitched cutting him off at a noise of boulders falling.“WATCH IT!” In an instant Gresh tackled Kiina moving them out of the way as a Bio-Quake started to shake moving boulders while pinning her to the rock wall allowing the two to brace as they waited out the Bio-Quake.
Once the tremors subsided the two teenage Glatorian’s relaxed. “You alright?” Gresh asked her glancing up at her slightly, (even if there was a half a head height difference between the two with Kiina being the taller one, Gresh didn’t have to look up much to make eye contact with her) seeing as Kiina relaxed slowly. “Yeah, thanks.” She thanked him.

Kiina buried her face deeper into the pillows with a soft ‘mirp’ leaving her throat with a slight pained whine (Glatorian compared to Agori no matter the tribe made more animalistic sounds naturally earning a view on them at times with the fights they were beasts) while shutting her eyes tighter.The female water Glatorian’s ears twitched at the sound of a door opening and closing. “Kiina? You still home?” Gresh’s voice called from downstairs. Kiina made another pained whine remembering the air tribe had excellent hearing (another trait Gresh had gained) so he would hear her.
