“What do you know?” He asked, narrowing his eyes. He put on his best ‘dad voice,’ as Buck liked to call it, forcing Ravi to meet his eyes. It didn’t take long before Ravi was spilling his guts.
Eddie, inexplicably, felt tears welling up in his eyes. Ravi cut himself off, his eyes even wider than before, but this time with a distinct horror.
“Hey, Eddie, hey.” Hen was next to him now, crouched next to his chair, placing one of her hands over his, which was balled up into a tight fist. “It was a long time ago, Buck ended it with him, Tommy’s not in the picture anymore.”
“It should have been me.” He whined, hating the sound as it forced its way out of his throat, unprompted. “Not fucking Tommy.”
“Ok!” Hen’s eyes were wide, and she lifted him to his feet, pulling him along to the couch on the other side of the loft, sitting him down. He buried his face in his hands, horrified. What a way to come out to your friend.

After Maddie and Chimney do their round of karaoke, they try to convince Buck to sing as well, to let his feelings out with how much he has been sulking. Doing this, he sings one song from his favorite movie, but the person he thinks about doesn’t know he’s pouring his feelings into the microphone because he is too far away, leaving Buck to send his love on a wire all the time. But instead, it turns out the wire is getting cut short.

He stopped in front of her, like he didn't know what to say. Fiona just stared at him. Lip stirred beside her.
"You got a baby," he said.
"Two," she replied, chin jerking toward Lip.
He blinked. Then, slowly, he dropped his bag and unzipped it. He pulled out a sandwich, squished, half-eaten, wrapped in a crumpled napkin, and held it out to her.
"You can have the rest," he said. "It's peanut butter. No jelly."
Fiona hesitated. Her stomach twisted with hunger, but she'd been taught not to trust strangers, even if they were small and sad-looking like her. Still... a sandwich was a sandwich.
She reached out and took it.
"Thanks."
He sat down next to her on the curb without asking. Just dropped his backpack by his feet and let out a sigh like someone twice his age.
"I'm Evan," he said, picking at the edge of his sneaker sole.
"Fiona."
