So as Kel stares at the way Sunny’s eye shone when they picked up a pace and soon enough started running across the field, gripping his little palm with his bigger one that can no longer be covered in sweat as their organisms stopped producing it after their death, he thinks about fleetiness of the moment. Maybe fate was merciful to both of them. Maybe they still have a second chance. Maybe there’s no going back but there’s still something flickering on the horizon. And maybe if they finally reach it, it’ll be easier to breathe.
