During a walk around town, eight-year-old Rin stumbles upon an injured boy about his age hiding in an alley. Despite Rin’s insistence on taking him home, the boy refuses. Not wanting to leave him alone, Rin instead decides to help the only way he knows how—by mimicking what he’s seen others do to treat injuries. He carefully patches the boy up as best as he can, proud of his work even if he’s just guessing half the time.
Moments later, a group of strange people dressed entirely in black appear. They speak in a foreign language—one Rin doesn’t recognize—but the injured boy understands and responds fluently. The strangers stare at Rin with unreadable expressions. Yet, oddly enough, Rin doesn’t feel afraid. There’s something oddly familiar about them… or maybe about the boy.

About a kid who reads a book, gets it in his head to travel halfway across the world, and then kidnaps another bookworm for company.” He chuckled again, shaking his head. “Really riveting stuff.”
Steph, sprawled on the arm of the couch, perked up. “Wait. You’re telling me Damian ran off to China because of a book?”

Yukio froze, the book heavy in his hands.
The last line of text bled into existence, making his stomach drop:And then Yukio realized he was already too late.
Or…
A mysterious person gives Damian a book then he goes to Japan and gives Rin the same book. Weirded out but curious they both read the story. Later Yukio shows up and finds Rin missing with a note telling him that he has run off with a boy he’s just met three minutes ago. Cue chaos.

“Shino-san?” Yukio looked up from the messy black locks between his spread legs and blinked at his step niece. As usual, Nii-san was sitting on the floor with a blank stare, before he relaxed into Yukio’s hand as the man’s fingers rubbed his scalp.
