“What do you remember?” the doctor asked, eyes looking steadily at Will’s downturned head.
“I remember one of your former patients breaking into my home.” Will bit at each of the words as he said them, hoping they would land properly, but suspecting that Hannibal wouldn’t really care. Looking up, Will met Hannibal’s eyes.

Will Graham, after getting out of that damned cell in the Baltimore State Hospital, finds things slowly go in strange directions for him and his experience with his own body. No one else seems to be noticing this or understand what's going on other than Hannibal, who seems to know far more about what the issue is than even Will himself. But Will can practically smell something wrong with Hannibal, and it isn't just that he's the Chesapeake Ripper.
It's that he's a monster in the most literal way possible.

Will Graham stepped out of his car and looked up at the large house that stood in front of him. It was black in colour, beautiful architecture. It looked like it was pulled straight out of the Victorian Era. Will walked through the opened iron gates and up the path. To his right there was an impressive garden. Will could smell a delightful combination of herbs, fruits, and vegetables. It was all overpowered by the smell of freshly cut grass and wet tarmac after the rain of earlier that day.
He took a deep breath and knocked with an iron, lion-shaped door handle. Only a few seconds passed until the door was opened. Will had been looking down at the floor and he knew if he wanted to be given the all-clear he'd have to make even a little eye contact, so he looked up.
A beautiful man. European, maybe? He was wearing a red suit. He had pale skin and greying hair. He smiled warmly down at Will standing on the doorstep.
"You must be Will Graham." The man said, as he outstretched a hand. "My name is Hannibal Lecter."

Will is cruel, when all is said and done. A public building requires no invitation, a house or other personal residence requires a one-time catch-all at the very least. But a body, that is sacred and hallow ground, and Hannibal cannot invade it without permission. Will is sure there's some sentimental gentleman upbringing in that, since Hannibal has no issue piercing his neck or anywhere else on his skin for the sake of his meal, but this, this carnal union Will so loves, requires consent. Repeated and enthusiastic consent.

Will’s chin snaps up. Though he still doesn’t meet Jack’s gaze, he focuses on the set of his mouth, the tilt of his brows, anything that might betray an underlying threat. He sees merely a hunger for insight, and a reckless ambition that has probably gotten people killed before. He doesn’t like either, but they present no immediate danger, so his eyes fall back to the floor.
“You’re thinking of werewolves. Takes more than a bite to turn someone into a vampire. It’s a communal experience.” A hint of mocking curls his tongue around the phrase, words borrowed from the very creature who had done the biting. “Do they have you chasing monsters now, Jack? One would think they’d have the sense to open a new department by now. The sheer volume of cases alone.”
“Bureaucracy moves slowly. That’s why I need help. Eight girls, eight months, eight different Minnesota campuses. What do you say, want to take that overactive imagination out in the field?”
